1. Do you think they have any plans for Adam Ruzicka, considering he's their last remaining RFA. I think he played pretty well when called up, last season.

  2. This seems like a "fighting for their playoff lives" version of the Calgary Flames. Great defensive depth, but I don't see the team better than last season's. One of those defensemen should be traded off for a little more scoring depth or a chippy 2nd line forward.

  3. Best case: Markstrom gets on a well-timed hot streak and carries the Flames to a deep playoff run.
Worst case: they actually suffer some notable injuries and limp into a wild card. (Pun intended, because people who say it isn't are completely lying.)

  4. Think Dube could be a breakout candidate, last couple games really showed what he could do and I hoped he would be a beast in the playoffs

  5. Flames should have a shot at first. If Campbell falters in Edmonton ( and I think he will) Calgary should finish ahead of them. I'd like to see Vladar start more games, and for Darryl Sutter to remember that Vladar is available in the playoffs, since Vladar must have been sitting right in Sutters blind spot last year or something. Dube, Ruzicka, and the kids mentioned in the video have thr potential to break through this year. I'm cautiously optimistic. Go flames.

  6. Zary struggled after an injury to start the year last year, I think he needs another full AHL year in him before he makes the jump. That being said, I'm SO excited to see Pelletier play this year, really hoping he can slot in top6

  7. 8/19 Edit: with kadri I think they jump to the 1st WC
Prediction: 4th in the Pacific, make the playoffs as WC2
Reasoning: they will take a step back without Tkachuk but they still have Sutter and still a great defensive team and they could lowkey be really dangerous to make an upset in the first round.

  8. I think Huey is going to be just fine with Lindholm on the line. I don't think Johnny and Matthew are going to get to 100 next year. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

  9. Hey Shannon loving the series so far, would you mind adding where they finished in the league and in their division for the past 5 seasons too? Their records give a pretty good idea, but that stuff would be nice to see for me if more or less points gets them into a different spot for any given year/division!

  10. Really enjoying these preview videos so far. In addition to the special team percentages, it'd be interesting to see how many pp opportunities the teams had and how many penalties they had to kill in total. Also, how are exits and incoming players going to affect the numbers in the coming season?

For the channel votes, I think it'd be enough to state that left side is this channel and right side the other just once instead of doing it for every number. It would improve my viewing experience watching these videos, but maybe that's just how I feel.

Thanks for putting in the work and staying true to your approach without the fancy graphics and editing. It really is a big reason why I am sticking to this channel for allthingshockey.

  11. I think Huberdeau was kinda joking when he said that at the press conference about Lindholm. At the same time if they find the right winger to play with them I think it's possible. I don't think we have seen Lindholms best season yet.

  12. I think they finish the same, Huberdeau was an upgrade from Johnny, as well as Weegar giving them an actual number one defenseman will be valuable. Tkachuk's loss will hurt, but giving Mangiapane a better line could be valuable and potentially see him take a huge step up. Second in the Pacific and they have a revenge series against Edmonton in the second round

  13. I actually completely, 100%, expect Lucic to re-sign in Calgary at a much lower cap hit. He basically took over the spot Sam Bennett was playing, except Lucic doesn't take terrible game costing penalties or get himself suspended.

  14. The Kevin Rooney signing kind of reminds me of Derek Ryan. Ryan was actually very good for the Flames his first two years, not so good the last year. Maybe they can get as much out of Rooney. Probably not. Ryan's a better player.

Worried about Coronato. I just noticed he's a Harvard guy, so is he going to go the Adam Fox route? Like Fox, he's also from Long Island, so is he going to demand a trade to the Rangers? It's something to watch out for over the next couple of years. If he refuses to sign up after this NCAA season's over, and he has a good season, I'd look into trading him while his value was high. You have to get on top of these things early, and if he has no interest playing in Calgary, get what you can for him. I'm sure his availability would draw a lot of interest.

  15. Honestly I would probably put Mangiapane on the top line and see what he can do with Huberdeau and Lindholm. It’s possible he could get 40 or more as well. The other option might be Toffoli but we’ll see.

  16. I think a lot of people are going to under estimate CGY this year. Sure they don't have have Gaudreau and Tkachuk, but adding Huberdeau and Weegar is significant. It's a very elite defense with a Vezina caliber goalie, plus a Selke finalist 1st line Center. I think this team is better built to win with a coach like Sutter than last year. A huge question mark is Tanev's health though, they need him in the lineup all year and healthy come playoff time.

  17. I honestly see the Flames as an improved team. Johnny was a diva who had to be babysat. Can’t be a defensive team if your short a player because he’s waiting on the blue line. Chucky can’t skate, and he wasn’t able to play his game to the extent he wanted to. We will miss his penalty draws.
We needed team players not spot light players. Flames go deep this year.

  18. Name to be forgotten. Calle Jarnchoke. Ugh.
However one player that made great strides last season was Adam Ruzicka. Not a peep about him anywhere, and I am disappointed that players like Rooney and even Monahan get what seems to be a "by" over him. Though he is RFA, would absolutely sign him to another 2 – 3 years and keep him on for a solid centre 6 presence.

  19. Shortly after signing 10.5M over 8 years Huberdeau or so donates Brain to Science :)? I don't know if that is a sign like Sleepy Hollow kinda thing or what really hehe. Tkachuk is a great player he will have more goals than Drew Doughty has Points but costs 9.5M compared to 11M. I laugh Monahan or so is a person in office here who like embezzled money or something I think hehe. Hard to keep track of all those career welfare guys. Flames tend to make playoffs then miss out. SO I can see them missing way Jacob faded after an early 9 shutouts I think he only got one in Post Season. They looked like 2012 Kings at times hehe or the 2014 ones. DAllas was a lot like that with all the Otter saves like 65. Coleman did score that OT Goal to be FAir :).

  20. I love your analysis of hockey! I’m already hooked on the other videos, but as a Flames fan I couldn’t put off watching this vid.

It’s going to be tough to replace Johnny and Tkachuck, but Huberdeau is a great compliment for one and seems to love Canada, but I don’t know where the Kadri rumours stand now.

The only negative thing about you…. You’re a Canucks fan 😉

  21. I can see Treliving adding another top 6 forward and a top 9 forward by the trade deadline. If not a big name like Patrick Kane, then maybe someone like Timo Meier. Depending on what they do with Lucic and Monahan this year, they've got several 1st round picks to trade in the next 2 years to try and win now. Plus this is Sutter's last year in his contract. ALL IN!!!!

  22. "Monahand has a bounce back seasin, Stop chuckling" im trying ok. Just, his numbers havw been falling more and more with every season so

  23. As far as Canadian teams go I reckon Toronto and Edmonton and either 1 of Calgary or Vancouver will make the playoffs, Ottawa will either just get a wild card slot or just miss out, Winnipeg will finish 5th or 6th in there division while Montreal will finish last in there division and either them or Arizona Buttmans will finish overall last

  24. Between 80 and 90 points for Huberdeau. Just a guess. Hope I'm wrong, and it's higher. Canada needs wings.

  25. It’s so hard to predict because Gaudreau,Tkachuk, Lindholm, Mangiapane, Andersson, all had the best year of their careers and they rode that to first place. Even Markstrom had a career year or one of the best of his career. It rlly depends on if someone steps up to fill that top 6 role like Dube potentially. Huberdeau isn’t as lethal of a scorer as Gaudreau and Tkachuk as well, so it’ll be interesting to see how Lindholm and Mangiapane step that up as I assume they will be his linemates

  26. I think Calgary will do great next year and as long as the losing streaks as yes there will be some and not losing alot of points then the Flames will be back next post season and if I am wrong, hey shit happens and then I will see what Calgary's does come next season as I am only human and will make mistakes as I still believe in my team since I was 9 years old. Go 🔥 Go!!!

  27. AAAAAnd……it's already out of date. Didn't take long for a team to screw up the season preview videos.

  28. Should have held up & du
I'd Flames after Kadri signing. Dramatically changes outlook for next year.

  29. Throw all the numbers out from the last 4 seasons. This Flames team has changed its core and chemistry. Now they should be as good as last season. Who knows really.

  30. Flames traded a couple ankle biters who won nothing for two more ankle biters who won nothing.
Going no where in the playoffs again.
    Sorry.
