  1. It's a gutsy and risky contract for sure, but with the cap going up and what he showed so far, if he doesn't regress and keeps putting in the work and has the attitude we need in this city then he will be the perfect complement in a lethal top 4 that includes Power and Dahlin

  2. Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't stand sweet Caroline sing alongs lol I have the exact reaction

  3. Zub is to Chabot what Samuelsson seems to be to Dahlin: a rock-steady partner on the blueline. Ottawa needs to extend Zub.

  4. Most teams bring their AHL affiliate closer except the hurricanes a couple years ago going from Charlotte to Chicago

  5. As a Sabres fan the signing surprised me. A real gamble on a young player. I haven't seen enough yet to be fully convinced he's a top 4 defenseman in the NHL. He played that role last year. And this year, he's clearly going to be either paired with Dahlen on the top line or on the second with Power; bringing defensive stability. The Sabres have a lot of young defenseman and Mattias is the only one that has a purely defensive game. Maybe it's a numbers thing. If he isn't the real deal, they're in trouble anyway cause they might have too many offensive defensemen on the team and in the minors. I thought when they signed Lyubushkin it was to sneak him in the top 4. However, he's expected to be a third pair defenseman.

This appears to be Adams first risk taken. I'm all for investing in a good defensive defenseman, just hope he proves he's top 4 worthy.

  6. Samuelsson is a shut down Dman. He is fantastic. Sabres run at end of last season was in large part to him.

  7. Samuelsson is a huge talent. All the players last year were raving about him. He is the real deal and the Sabres knew it. Thus the big contract.

  8. Need a real goaltender and a top line as well a second line.Never make the playoffs or passed the first round without. We,re going to finish about the same again because we,ve no Kadri,or top notch players in the roosters. But go Buffalo prove me wrong.

  9. And here I got confused and thought it was Adam Samuelsson, because at least he played on Byfield's squad out of Sudbury right before being drafted. Contract's 30 divided by 7 ~ now I'm not so interested!! lol

  10. All the Small Things is a Tom Delonge song. Shouldn’t he be singing it?

They are probably bringing him out as a surprise since they just announced the reunion tour.

  11. I think it's smart of Buffalo to give him that 7-year deal for that much because I picture that he will end up a 6 million per year shut down Defenseman in Granato's system. Adams is following Beane's, GM of the Buffalo Bills, model on how to build and pay the players you want to be here long-term. And it will look smarter when they can go out and get a DeBrincat level player and pay them 10 million after paying all the guys they want to keep. Of course there will be down fall to it but I believe that this will actually look amazing and Samuelsson's contract will be a huge bargain in 5 years. Go Sabres!

  12. Detroit is the only team who won't have played at least 1 game come friday when they finally start their season.

  13. I’m pretty happy with the Samuelsson contract he’s been a solid, big body shut down d-man that the Sabres have been lacking for some time now and truly believe he’ll play up to and beyond his contract within the next few years

  14. Samuelsson is definitely worth it. Most people I have heard disagreeing is people who dislike the contract because they don’t know who he is. A big defensive defender that can play top 2 minutes. Will probably become a nr 3 or maybe a nr 4 defender and all of that is worth the contract

  15. Hope we don't see both goalies tonight. That'd probably be bad news for the Jackets

  16. Hey mister. Where do you buy all your jerseys?
Ive been looking for a SJ sharks black goalie cut jersey, but come on!- its easier to get hold of a signed Tretiak CCCP jersey from Russia than a GC jersey from a NHL team!
Trying to contact set clubs regarding jerseys are a waste of time, i dont think they read any emails.

  17. older Stanley Cup rings used to be signet rings only made of gold. saw a few at a hockey history exhibit here in Winnipeg. they were tasteful, simple rings especially in comparison to some of the newer rings. the recent Chicago cup rings were on display and they were about the size of golf balls. hideous!

  18. Sabres signing Samuelsson is more about who his D partner is, Rasmus Dahlin. His game improves playing with a stay at home d-man like Samuelsson. The Sabres want Dahlin to blossom and having Samuelsson as his partner only helps that. 👍👍

  19. As someone that has been in Ball Arena during a Avalanche beatdown of another team. All the small things sing-a-long is fricken amazing. Closest I've ever come in NA to what it is like at a football game in Europe (my experience is at Bayern). The atmosphere there is just fantastic.

  20. Sammy is a stud, this deal will end up looking good. Certainly a risk but if he plays the way he did last year and only improves as times goes on, this will be a steal. Sabres finally making smart moves.

  21. Buffalo always been one of the teams I route for. Eichel gone even more so. They gotta take some chances. I like the signing. Buffalo no longer to be laughed at. Playoffs this year will be tight in the tough division, but they have a chance.

  22. Sabres fans i root for you but the reasoning that a guy was great defensively on a non playoff team is worth 30 million is ridiculous . It’s blind reasoning. That’s a bad contract. Plain and simple.

  23. The Samuelsson deal should be sweet for the long run. Cheers to Adams for having the balls to do this.

  24. The idea that Vancouver was 'mediocre' last season reminds me of when LA first won the Cup a decade ago – 'mediocre' for the 1st half of the year, but then caught fire just in time to sneak into the playoffs. I look forward to seeing just how 'mediocre' they are in the relatively wide-open 'Cific division…

  25. I love the Samuelsson contract because he will be a perfect partner for Dahlin who is due for a big contract next year. Great to have a defensive defensemen next to Dahlin who makes such a big impact on offense

  26. Mattias Samuelsson on paper to people who don’t watch the Sabres isn’t anything to jump out of your seat about. But I promise, when you watch him game in and game out, he competes hard and really understand the game. I think he will be good for the Sabres for a long time.

  27. If you can ever find the time, would you consider doing a video about Philadelphia’s history/reputation of being a goalie graveyard? Looking at every goalie they’ve had, how and/or why the vast majority of them failed, and what is it about that team or that city which causes so many goalies to regress so severely? I know there are some other cities that also have the label of goalie graveyards, but Philadelphia is by far the most infamous of the bunch.
