I’m in college right now in Maryland and some of my roommates are Caps fans…. And I can’t tell you how annoying it is to see the Panthers fall apart like this. We gotta do better.
After the first goal this game was tough for me to watch
I still believe. Go CATS
Weegar is such a bum. He literally was the sole purpose we lost game 1. And certainly made it harder in game 3 by gifting them 2 goals in game 1 and 3. I never knew 1 guy could have such an impact…
The 5 forward pp looked better this game than with ek, they went back to it midgame
I think you have to give credit to Mantha for out battling as he’s a beast big man, bottom line is the power play doesn’t put fear in the caps! Appreciate your post game comments. Thanks
Let's just hope the boys were still waking up since it was a matinee game
The culture is the most frustrating part. Because at the end of the day, these guys are human, they feel bad about losing, they feel bad when they’re down. They know just as much as we do that they aren’t doing great and that every game now is incredibly important. But for some reason, unlike in the regular season, they just can’t keep their chin up and keep pushing. One thing about Florida in the regular season that was so great was that you could never count them out, THEY most importantly, thought they could never be counted out. That game against Toronto when they went down 5-1, most people would’ve gave up and said, well, just one game we’ll get em next time. But they didn’t, and they pulled off a spectacular comeback. In these playoffs they just aren’t doing that anymore. Every big save by the other team, every giveaway, every goal the other team scores you can just see them deflate. In game 2 they did great because they were pretty much always up, they were dominating. But now it just seems like we can’t play when we’re down and we always need a perfect game.
That’s a CULTURE problem, and you know what fixes that? COACHING and LEADERSHIP. I appreciate that Bruno kept the team going and led us to the presidents trophy, but he’s just getting out coached this series and his kingdom is crumbling around him. I love Barkov, but he’s just too silent of a guy to be that leader we need on our down days, and worse, he succumbs to the same giving up culture that we have a problem with.
It’s just so frustrating, is all I can really say. I still have hope we can take this series. If we win this one, we NEED to take some BIG lessons from it going forward, because this has been a slog.
Great video guys, keep up the good work.
And to add to this, it’s been the same problem the leafs have had. Leafs could be up 5-1 in a game, 3-1 in a series, but all it takes is for the other team to make a couple good plays and score or lose a game in the series for their morale to completely collapse. The leafs know that they have a reputation for choking, and they let that get to their heads. Can’t let that happen, has to be somebody in the locker room, somebody in coaching to keep things straight.
Panthers have understand this is a 2-1, 1-0 type game. Play solid defensively, stay out the box, let your deep roster win.
Heat game
Can’t ever lose track of Ovi, especially on the PP. His shot is ridiculous, and super accurate. That left circle needs to be covered.
Tbh were not even playing our hearts out on the ice , the only ones who somewhat gave a fuck last night were Giroux and huby those 2 are the only players I’ve seen some emotion from this series , But even some of the shit their doing is inexcusable , were coasting during the playoffs this would be considered lackadaisical play to Q in the REGULAR season , get out of your asses and wake up squad just play like its fucking reality you aren’t gonna win games if you don’t outwork the other team , we are making the 2012 team look good at least they put in effort , just wow i haven’t seen play this bad since the bubble 2020 i stick with the team but they flat out have the wrong mentality their lucky to have the genetics and physical capability to play cause their bums mentally currently hoping for more then a statement win Monday i want a fuck you haters win Monday prove to us you aren’t a fraud of a team
Weegar should just take himself out of the lineup, please do us all the favor! We need Lomberg back in the line up, we miss his speed and grit.
I have never been MORE embarrassed to be a Panther Fan after watching game three. 1. Barkov… with his bullshyte lazy playability has proven each year he doesn't have what it takes once the playoffs begin. 2. Why is Weeger STILL on the ice especially on the top line & the best thing the Panthers can do is just give him his unconditional release & let him go FK up another team with his stick handleing of the puck which has consistently allowed goals against. 3. Burnette should be FIRED on the spot if the Panthers dont get out of the 1st round. 4. Game 4 is a MUST win. Anything less is a travesty. During the off-season there has to be major discussions on player responsibilities. Geroux would be an amazing Captian who has the experience to lead this team. If a player doesn't produce… Give him his walking papers. There is Sooo much talent where we can put players on ice who give 110 percent. This was supposed to be the year the Panthers brought the Cup to South Florida. At this moment I am disgusted. And yes… To all you haters out there l… my tune would be the exact opposite if we would have won game 3 and be up 2-1 in this series. There would have been no bitching or complaining. I am as passionate for my team as you are for yours. So I get to rant… Just as you do.
1. I’d love to hear what Billy and Randy answer the question, so what went wrong and how do we fix it if the Panthers lose this series.
2. We have the best offense on the planet and the worst power play known to man. Watch Colorado’s PP vs ours. Simply put. One’s static/slow and one’s dynamic/fast. The problem is deeper than we think because we’re at this point and seeing the same issues.
3. We haven’t been the same since that winning streak. Went into the playoffs entitled, gutless, and not ready to battle. Look at the last four games of the regular season.
4. Can you imagine losing the one thing we need more of in Marchment. Can’t pay him. He’s gonna walk and take a big ticket elsewhere.
5. The treatment Barkov/Huberdeau get reminds me of Selanne/Kariya in terms of the way the opposition approaches covering them and playing tough on them to neutralize the talent. Obviously one pair reached the SCF and one hasn’t I realize. Just pointing out how teams stop them
6. Same old thing. Not enough pressure to win here. Local media coddles the team like a baby win or lose.
Every great team in every sport at some point goes through adversity. The Panthers have proven to get through it when the whole Coach Q thing went down. This is the biggest test to date more than any other point in the Franchise’ history. This team CAN comeback. They need to play THEIR game. They play Florida Panthers style of Hockey these next games can become blowouts. I hope these guys have a Come to Jesus meeting before Game 4 and proceed to obliterate the Caps for the remainder of the series. They’ve waited and the fans have waited forever for a team like this to go to the promise land. Let’s get it. #wewantthecup
Weegar fucking sucks. He is on my shit list. I want him gone next year. 1 year left on his deal. Trade him for another d-man that has an expiring deal too.
I can get behind what people say about Barkov. He is a great player, skilled, plays 200 feet. But I’m still not sure about him as a captain. The captain sets the tone. Look at Ovi in the locker room/tunnel. Energy through the roof, punching Oshi getting each other all worked up. They look like they are on cocaine. Barkov sense his first game as a panther steps on the ice like he just got out of bed. In all of his interviews he sounds depressed. Doesn’t matter if it’s preseason or playoffs. No energy, no enthusiasm, no drive. Barkov is the last guy I could imagine saying “let’s f*#%ing go boys!” getting onto the ice. Every team has skill in the playoffs, usually it’s who wants it more that ends up winning. Barkovs energy likely rubs off on the rest of the team. The hunger level just isn’t matched
What blew my mind about the weegar penalty, if u watch the game, forsling has a tendency to have a weak stick. The capitals took advantage of that multiple times and were able to knock the stick out his hands and generate a chance. In particular in the 2nd period there was a chance we’re the caps player legit lifted forslings stick and forsling lost it. It’s play off hockey. If a player makes a hard play like that, how can you call a penalty on weegar where he’s pretty much falling because he basically turned the puck over and got caught flat footed. Yet the caps get a 3 on 1 when they create a chance based on their knowledge of player tendencies. The team looks lost tbh. The only guys that look comfterble are bob,Bennet, and Marchment. In my opinion they are the only players that have had a sense of urgency and stepped up their game when we needed to. Problem is these aren’t guys who will single handily win us a cup
Weegar needs to be pushed down immediately
WHY….. Why is the last man back stick handling thru traffic. That makes zero sense…. what the flying f*ck!!!! I wasn't allowed to do things like that when i played D.
Weegs wasnt a top-pairing guy until Ek went out last year and Q put him up there… Missing an experienced coach right now!!!
As a Flames fan I feel your pain hopefully both teams turn their series around
yeah, its gonna take them 10 more first round exits for this team for them to learn how to play playoff style hockey it seems. even if this team has an even BETTER season next season and outscore their opponents by three goals every game I still wont have faith in them making a deep run which is pretty sad.
T.J. Oshie said, “When the big guy is out there throwing the body (Ovechkin), we better be doing the same thing.” That’s a Captain.
As a Caps fan I appreciate the discussion. Liked and subscribed! Good series so far. I know the feeling of watching your top seed prez trophy roster disappointing.
I am really sick and tired of turning the game halfway through the 2nd period. Driving home pissed off waiting to run my car into an overpass. I hate the impending doom sick feeling in my stomach. What you guys point out isn’t small and easily missed. It’s blatant. Please tell me there is a silver lining. I’m dying here.
i cant understand the refs this series. chiarot was top d man all the way to the finals last year and he plays 10 min a game while weegar looses 2 games single handedly. duclair is absent. lomberg deserves to be on the ice because we need more physicality as we are getting beat up especially in the 3rd game, he also finished the season strong offensively. who wouldve thought bob would have been solid for 3 games straight and our offense cant score??????
Seedings don't matter, because the playoffs are a different animal, boys. At a certain point, for athletes playing at the highest level of their respective sport, it becomes more of a tactical and mental game more than anything else.
Back in the 2009-10 season, Washington finished with the best record in the league (54-15-13). Leading 3 games to 1, the Caps were eventually eliminated by (#8 seed) Montreal in the first round of the playoffs, 4 games to 3. The three remaining players from that team, Ovechkin, Backstrom and Carlson are presently the top 3 point scores leading the charge against Florida now.
I hear you guys talking about penalties and how the refs let things go. But be objective. It goes both ways. There are things you can and can't control and the Caps aren't focused on missed calls, the loss of Tom Wilson or anything else they can't control. You know what their playoff motto is? "No Excuses."
Barkov. Huberdeau. Ekblad. Giroux. All great players. And while a great player can win any game, a great team will win every game.
Will is beating skill.
Guys, guys… I watch way too many videos after the games- WHY no Barkov or Huby interviews? If we had a coach- like Torts the bench would be short. The guys showing the grit and tenacity to win against the boards- playing the body- would be playing more minutes. There is a lack of that sandpaper attitude from certain players and it is cost them. The playoffs are a different animal. These guys need to look at Marchy, Benny, Horny and emulate them. Want to win- be willing to hand out a beating and take one. Want to score on the PP- shot the puck more and dialdown the fking passing. I Shut off the game after 4-1. AND its the playoffs- stop pulling the goalie- your team is NOT responding to the pressure.. you just giving the opposition a bigger ego
Sooooo Barry Trotz just got relieved as head coach of the New York islanders.👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀
All season long, as great as we looked, people said we can't outscore our problems in the playoffs, that we couldn't win these low scoring, close playoff games. And they have been right 100%. Game 1, we're up 2-1 in the 3rd. All we have to do is play SMART. We already know what happened. Game 3, we're up 1-0. It's early in the game but come on, you have the lead. Now it's just about minimizing mistakes. If they score, make sure it wasn't because of your mistake. We know what happened there too. DIDN'T WE LEARN FROM GAME 1? Our team doesn't know how to play smart, playoff hockey. Only stupid. They're still acting like the only way to win is to score 4+. You HAVE to learn how to play with your 1 goal lead. It's not about trying to fly in and score 2, 3 more. It's protecting your side of the ice at all costs. We never learned! We played crap defense for a lot of the season or had issues with Bob or Knight and instead of correcting anything, we said "well we can still outscore teams so it's fine." It was never fine. Now we're seeing what happens when a team that tries to outscore their problems can't score. They panic, they play stupid, they look deflated, there's no energy. Remember the turning point of game 2? It wasn't the goals or the pretty offense. It was our defense coming through and killing the 4 minute PP. We need more of THAT team.
