If you don’t like consistent disappointment you don’t like devils hockey
Well ruff said before the start of the game that the team looked nervous because of high expectations… I no longer have any expectations, let alone high expectations.
Controversial opinion: take Hughes off the power play. We have players that have been successful on other teams. We have a coaching switch with a previously successful power play. When the power play looks bad, it’s the players at this point. We had stretches tonight where the power play looked awful.
The pp goal specifically came with Hughes not on the ice. He’s straight over thinking and other players are too aware of him. Too many passes, and getting too easy to read because everyone is passing the puck towards him. He wouldn’t be the first really good player to not be a special teams kinda guy. At least try a couple stretches without him in it and have him watch then try again. Maybe make him really want it
Does anything rhyme with Bedard?
Bring back the doormat. This team will never turn it around.
At least the Jets have won 2 in a row
Way too passive this game. It’s surprising they generated as many shots as they did, but could have been 50 if they got to any rebounds or created net front plays. Overall I don’t know what to say about that one. Just bad defensive coverage for 3 easy chances and couldn’t get the save. Bad chances to give up though, looked totally intimidated during the second period.
Get mad, actually outwork Detroit on Saturday.
It’s just one game, and maybe they bounce back. But sorry Lindy, you’re not the first Devil’s coach to say « We’re doing everything right, but we’re just not scoring/taking advantage enough. »
That’s half the fucking game. Scoring fucking goals. You don’t win the NHL lottery multiple years and get players like Hughes to not be able to score fucking goals. If your team can’t prevent goals or score them, then you’re fucking a bad coach.
Newark should pass an ordinance like whatever NYC had for Kyrie last year.
That way, whenever I buy a ticket for a Devils home game, I can rest assured I won’t be inadvertantly exposed to his attempts at tending the goal.
Give👏Jesper👏Bratt👏anything👏he👏wants
First line with Hughes? Do it!
Halat down to PP2? Done!
Wood to throw gloves? Ready!
A delay on the inevitable .5% interest rate hike? Sure thing!
Hey last couple years we start hot with 5 wins in a row then completely shit the bed the rest of the year. Maybe this is a blessing
Wont give up but that was rough. Last year cant happen again
It’s the first game of the season, just one game so far, I get it. But holy shit I am so tired of seeing 5 pucks in our net every other night.
Hart outplayed Blackwood.
There were a lot of other details about the game, but honestly, that’s what it all boils down to. Hughes and Mercer created some great scoring chances. Hart was just more up to the task tonight than Blackwood.
Also, I’m used to Bratt being the guy who makes his lines better. But tonight he was invisible until he got put on Hughes’ line. He needs to be a leader of this offense, not a passenger.
But it’s just one game. A disappointing game, but just one game nonetheless.
Lindy Ruff has to go. Yesterday. Mackenzie Blackwood can help him pack his bags.
Sent McLeod to Utica. Possible rapist and also he just fucking sucks? It’s not worth it for him to maybe have a 52% faceoff percentage and also be outchanced 5-17 on the ice. Just keep Boqvist as the 4C when Nico is back
Hopefully Bernier can come back soon.
I want to ride out the season with Vaneck and Bernier.
I’m ready to totally cut bait on Blackwood. Put him on waivers and send him packing. I don’t care if we get a Old Navy gift card for him.
Devils Halloween Costume Idea:
A big wet shidding and farting session with smelly poops and missing the net and turning the puck over and skid marks.
This looked like most devils games over the last decade🤷♂️
Tough loss but waaaay too many people are hitting the panic button after one game. How many times have we seen the Devils start off amazing only to fall off a cliff? Maybe this game is a bit of a reality check for them.
On a positive note, I was very pleased with Holtz’s game. He looks so much more involved in the play than he did in any of his NHL games last year, plus he gets his first goal.
Ruff just isn’t that guy. It’s a shame it’ll have to take a pretty significant losing streak for him to get fired this season.
Lindy was thinking about getting to bed early. Torts was thinking if he could get a practice in after the game.
No one could finish tonight. They had chances but couldn’t do a thing with them.
It’s just one game right? Smith, Palat, and Haula will bring in that vet presence to help the team gel…
HELP.
Not going to dwell on this because it’s game 1, but, that doesn’t matter when it comes to effort. The great players show up. every. single. night.
I could not care less if we lost fair and square while giving a 60 min effort. The frustrating part is it shouldn’t take 4 opponent goals and 50 min of game time to finally start showing like they give a shit. We consistently lost board battles, barely could complete a functioning breakout let alone a pass, and they stayed to the perimeter like a bunch of pussies.
Everyone is calling is the team who’ll finally take the next step into playoff contention….
Now fucking act like it.
This is what happens when you turn your back on our Lord and Savior
