  1. Lane has some interesting choices, especially when it comes to bringing in new forwards, and none of those choices are clear cut. IMO, the Isles season will come down to whether or not a couple of younger forwards can make a big enough jump in consistent production to displace some vets. If that happens, there are 2 vets I see as most likely to be traded, and why.

Beauvillier – His career stats are below 1/2 a point a game, and he is too easily pushed off the puck. At a questionable 5' 11", 182 pounds, I don't expect him to be a checker, but he has no real fight in his game. With his great hands, there would probably be a couple of teams willing to take him for a 2nd or 3rd.

Josh Bailey – Josh is over 1/2 a point a game, but even at this point in his career, he is prone to errors that result in dangerous turnovers. He still makes a lot of 'rubber wrist' passes when put under pressure. I've seen him mess up Islander power plays by trying to make a low energy pass, or even having the puck slip off his stick and right to a defender. Trading Josh would cost the Isles salary retention or a 2nd or 3rd pick.

Palmieri could also be in jeopardy if he starts the season in another prolonged drought. Parise is safe because of his low cap hit.

Looking down the road, if Raty comes on strong as a pointing center, Pageau would go. When you think about it, Pageau hasn't been all that much better than Casey, and Casey is cheaper. Assuming that 4th line remains effective, there isn't much chance Lou breaks it up.
There was a time when that lines cap hit was hurting the Isles, but since their new contracts, they are mostly a bargain (Clutter costs too much, IMO).

  2. I am confused…this Walstrom …did he light up college…no…the AHL..no…so what is everyone so caught up in him…he has proven nothing at any level..and he was a bit of a malcontent in both previous location…and Lou doesnt like that ,,,
