I know very little about hockey since I grew up in Florida. But I know who Lemieux is… legend.
Watched Lemieux play so many times against my Red Wings during their hay days. Mario was one of the few players in the league our team legit feared on the ice. He could take control of a game on the offense AND defensive side of the ice. So much skill and quickness in that huge body. He was a monster. Mario reminded me of famous Red Wing Gordie Howe with his style of play. I simply cannot give a higher complement.

Mario was quite the player, one of my buddies growing up was a huge lemieux fan and it showed. He was an absolutely fantastic hockey player, he could dance, stick handle and score, he wasnt the fastest skater but that didnt mean anything.. you literally couldnt stop this guy, hed get so baked before our hockey games but still manage 4-6 goals a game and many assists. I feel like mario was one of the last true artists of the game.

Mario used to bring his kids to the blade runners ice complex near my house. Saw him there a few times. Ridiculously nice guy. He's easily one of the most respected people in Pittsburgh and his legend status far precedes that of his athletic history.
