  1. He’s Number 2 centre. On a competitive team he’ll be a third line centre.

  2. As much as I like Bo, I can't say he is a number one centre. He would only slot in as a top line centre on maybe 3 to 5 teams in the league in my opinion. At his highest potential he's a 2C at best behind Petey still. Not to mention the money Miller is commanding in the long term as a 1C I don't see Bo replacing Miller and Petey in importance and ice time. I'd love to see Bo stay but I also dont think anything less than 6.5 per year will do. Hard to see him go if they move him cause he a fan fave and our own draft pick but I also know he could bring in a coveted defenseman for us.

I hope he stays though because if anything happens injury wise to petey or Miller were pretty thin so having a top 3 centre depth like we do now is a luxury to have.

Canucks win tmr 4 to 3 with pods and horvat scoring

  3. Bo should take a hometown discount so the team CAN start winning, not necessarily BECAUSE they are winning. If Bo doesn't take a hometown discount, this team likely isn't going to go anywhere meaningful. For Bo, it's take a hometown discount, or kiss any potential of a Stanley Cup championship to Vancouver goodbye

  4. Bo's work ethic, commitment to the team and to winning are all No. 1. It doesn't matter where he slots in, his check will not have an easy time of it. He plays the game the way it should be played, clean, focused on the task at hand and the situation.

  5. Player agents like to oversell their clients so I would not take what he says as what he believes horvat to be… It's his job to paint and stretch what his client is worth and can bring to the table/team. I always find it pretty pointless to chat/interview with player agents when they always do this and say things that simply only to try and get more money. Horvat is a no. 2 centre at best nothing more..

  6. Bo is a third line center on a playoff team at best where he is now, so no hes not a one maybe a second line center so far with facoffs but will never be a number one, I keep comparing to Kesler he was a true number 2 could shut down and put up more point for less money

  7. Last season Horvat was 49th among centers in points, 78th among centers in even strength points and he has never had more than 61 points and that was 3 years ago. I like Bo and he brings other things to the table, BUT to me that is not the numbers of a first line C

  8. Canucks 5 Flyers 2 – Kuzmenko with the first goal on the PP

Horvat has some characteristics of Trevor Linden – he rises to the occasion to score some big goals, wins you the most important faceoffs, and works his tails off killing penalties. But like Linden, he should not be expected to carry the team offensively (I would argue Linden is actually more reliable to score a big goal when the team needs him to, especially in his prime). Horvat will be a cornerstone for this team centering the second/third line as long as you have the likes of Miller and Petey here. If this means a contract for him would be too costly, then I'd say we need to explore a trade to get the team some help on D, which really looked shaky against Edmonton the other day.

  9. Bo seems like a good guy and can be very clutch but personally I hope he gets traded and Miller wears the C.

  10. I don't know why Pearson is playing up on the 1st line. He should drop to 3rd with Bo. Lines should be: 1) Podz-Miller-Boeser 2) Kuz-Petterson-Mikheyev 3) Pearson-Bo-Garland.

  11. hi clay I hope horvat resigns here soon but I have no preference on term and length I'm definitely glad Mikheyev is okay now horvat has the potential to be a 1c for sure but might be a 2 or 3c 4-3 miller first goal

  12. Neither Bo, JT or Petey are legitimate #1 Centres on any contender, that is as of right now…with Peteys upward progression and if JT has another dominant year then that could change. But right now I do see them as all very good #2 Centres, which I’d actually rather have as it provides more depth and balance all around.

In defense of Bo, he was clutch when in the playoffs scoring some McDavid-esq goals, also he is quite good at face offs and dealing with media – all underrated traits. I think he is undervalued in this market and some people don’t know what they got till it’s gone, but in saying that, $7M+ x whatever term is simply too much. I see $6.6250Mx8=$53M as more than fair, for both camps

    5-2. Pearson

  13. he's a pretty good 2nd center or a great 3rd center. If he is your number 1 center you are drafting near the top of the draft. Horvat's Agent didn't do Bo any favors by saying that crap.

  14. Maybe a hot take but I think Bo's contract doesn't get done until the trade deadline or just before, and Miller is shipped out to make way. I don't want that but I could see it happening as Miller probably isn't going to outplay his contract but will certainly make himself look a more attractive proposition for teams looking to add a keystone piece.

I don't feel like Bo is a bonafide 1C but certainly a good 2C and provides great options on special teams & face-offs.
There is no big money coming off the books in the next year to make cap room for a big contract for Horvat, so either he walks or someone else is being traded.
Something to remember is that nothing has to get done until the end of this season so there's no need to feel pressure for either side right now… perhaps management want to see what case he makes for himself over the season and that will bring them closer together.

  15. Absolutely love Horvat, but he is a 50 point player. Only been over that once. They need to stop over paying players just because they are likeable. Canucks cannot sign Bo for more than $5.7 per year. 50 point players grow on trees and can get them for cheap because they are usually on the 3rd line

  16. Thought Bo looked brutal in the opener. Lost draws. poor efforts on transition back checks. Costly errors. No offensive creativty or output. was very disappointed

  17. In order to be considered a 1C, you have to be one of the top 32 centres in the league. There are 25 centres are definitely better than Horvat, with another 12 that are debateable. You can argue that he is top line calibre, however, the stronger argument is as a top-tier 2C. With that in mind, I would say no more than $7 Million as an AAV. That said, the Canucks probably cannot afford him at that price tag and for the role that he is currently playing on the team. Time will tell!

  18. his numbers are almost similar to Toews…. and he got 6.5 for 5. horvat got 5.5..
and then toews got 10.5…. horvat deserves 8 million. NGL his faceoff percentage., makes him just as valuable is a JT Miller.
and im pretty sure hes go nna sign elsewhere. for that 8 million… or we gonna trade him… mark my words. he might sign for 7.75-8.00 for however term

  19. horvat is just as important as miller.. horvat kills it in the faceoffs..
horvat reminds me of toews…. toews got 6.5 for 5 years. and then a 10.5 raise. if horvat kills it.. like miller did last year.. watch him look for 8 million +

  20. Philly looked good the other day..confidence is high for them. It will be a close game.

  21. Noooo Clayyyy… you ate the Donnie and dhali poison right up… no chance Bo is a first line Center…

  22. BO is an excellent 3c, a good 2c and mediocre 1c. i love BO but if he wants too much, trade him for an upgrade on defense. 6 to 1 for van. garland with first goal.

  23. It is what everyone perceives you, Bo, not what your agent says he perceives you. It is time to fire the agent Pat Morris. He is apparentlyt going nowhere with your contract negotiation, ultimately forcing the Canucks to trade you off the team.

  24. Not a 1C in my opinion. Canucks should be trying to resign under $7 million AAV. If the Horvat camp insists on $7+ million, I'd be looking for assets.

  25. he's not a 1C on the canucks. could always package him to get a right dman. hes a 2C. hes good at faceoffs, overrated on the pk. was never a good pker IMO. he can be 1c on 5-6 teams in the other conference.

  26. Kuzmenko get 30 goals this season Horvat possible leaved no capspace next season only already used Miller Trade Garland Myers Pearson

  27. Bo absolutely is a first line center. The thing with Bo is he has never had first line wingers to benefit from his skill and tenacity. That is just the way it has worked out for him. He will do a lot better this year point wise as he will have good wingers this year to work with due to the great job the new management has done with increasing the depth of the forwards as was on display against the Oilers in game one. They outplayed the oilers as a result but their special teams beat them out of a deserved 2 points. Smart money would be to sign him for 8 year 7 million contract he is seeking. Three awesome countermen is a very lethal weapon in today's NHL. If management waits it will cost them a bigger contract or the player himself. This year is the year of the Bo.

  28. Hi clay well I think it's going to be Vancouver is going to have five and Philly is going to have to and we're going to win and I think the first person to get the goal is going to be mckayv and also I really hope we sign or that I think he is a second line Center and he's too good to let go I really like them too take care bye-bye

  29. Sign Bo Horvat… 7.5 million… He is a playoff guy that performs in the playoffs.
We can let Kuzmenko walk after this season or trade him at the deadline if he asks for too much…
With three good centers, wingers need to be on cheap contracts. Canucks can't afford bloated contracts for wingers like Beoser and Kuzmenko. They need to get rid of Myers contract also…

  30. On the Canucks, Horvat is not a 1C, so very little chance he gets that 1C money. With the roster as it is, he's probably a 2C at best, but I don't see him on the 2nd line much based on how coach BB deploys the players. Need I remind fans how much we love paying 3M+ to 3rd line players? Yes, he is the captain, but how much is that really worth?
