Loved the fight tonight and they played a great game today. Yeah our PP sucked and it didn’t help the refs weren’t on our side and but they played with great energy and we are starting to see whos helping and hurting. Comrie was great in net as well and I’m honestly the most optimistic I’ve been in a sabres team for a long while

    #81-1 fuck Tkachuk

  2. iiSpyderiii

Felt outgunned, but loved the fight from the boys. Lots to clean up and build on!

  3. UncleOrton

Peterka should have been in way more in the 3rd. Thought Comrie did pretty well and we kept it respectable. Think we need to shuffle the top 2 lines a little bit. It’s encouraging but also kind of a bad sign the kid line has been our best.

  4. Skyfoogle420

Not totally disappointed with the L. Hell of a fight but man the last 5 minutes was rough.

  5. GuybrushThreepwood94

Can’t be too mad about this one. The Panthers are a really good team. Fuck Matt Tkachuk though. What an absolute piece of shit.

  6. AnAngryAnimal

Looking forward to Matt Tkachuks next game against Buffalo

  7. MoneybagsMcghee

First line was invisible. Mighta won if they showed.
Peterka and Dahlin two best players so far for me. Id like to see JJ on the powerplay considering special teams need a spark badly

Man, you’d think a guy whose name rhymes with ‘Rat Rat-Fuck’ would have a responsibility to not be a Rat Rat-Fuck.

    But here we are

  9. SaltyRaspberry

Even with the loss, you can tell this team is different this year. I liked that they never seemed to just give in and made Florida work for it.

    I have hope.

  10. Theres going to be a point here where we’re going to have to talk about Casey Mittlestadt.

Comrie played well. Had no problems with him tonight.

Bryson also played solid. Love his game so far.

Quinn and Peterka didn’t get much ice time today but that’s because we were on the PK so much.

  11. xBialyOrzel

That was brutal. Just awful, awful officiating that non call on Dahlin literally cost us the game, the missed tripping penalties in the last 20 minutes repeatedly, not being able to break the puck out. The good news was Dahlin, Tuch, & Comrie played their balls off

  12. Roll_DM

Making middlestat play the most minutes out of all the forwards just makes me yell FUCKING MIDDLESTAT more.

So maybe it’s time to stop.

  13. callMEmrPICKLES

God damn we cannot beat Florida

  14. BARDLER

Glad to see the effort and toughness. The Panthers are a tough team and they battled hard against them.

The shit passing, bad transition play, and lack of keeping possession going really sunk them. Also their power play was dog shit.

Would like to see Olofsson not in the top 6. His 5v5 play is useless.

  15. My takeaways, wasn’t expecting to win, Florida is really good. We played ok, Comrie kept us in it which was great, overall I liked our d. Our top 2 lines need to change up a bit and today I was extremely disappointed with Granato and his coaching staff with how he deployed players and didn’t adjust the pp in game. But it’s ok, hopefully they learn from this.

  16. seeldoger47

there were some problems with the lineup on paper going into the regular season that would need to be addressed. Granato address two of them with his in game adjustments today. It will be interesting to see if that’s enough or if more tweaks will be necessary going forward.

« We suck. Everyone looked disinterested in the third. Blow it up » /s

(+): Hung with a great Panthers team, didn’t back down from a physical game, Peterka impresses again. Comrie played great.

(-): PP looks listless often, hard time keeping consistent pressure. Way too many turnovers again (Looking at you Mitts). Lack of gamebreaking talent apparent in the third when Panthers started trapping. Did I mention turnovers?

  18. edit-the-sad-parts

Was very pleasantly surprised with Jokiharju’s game today. Cozens, Peterka, Dahlin, and Tuch were by far our best players

Need way more out of Skinner and Thompson, and the PP

Slow start for Quinn and Power. Though Power was less noticeable this game than last, which is a good thing

Another tough matchup against McJesus on Tuesday. better bring the same effort with some cleaner passing

  19. razor9586

Casey Mittelstadt is not an NHL caliber player. It’s time to move on from this guy. Almost 200 NHL games in his career and he is still a liability.

  20. AudioCats

Lots to like and some to dislike–feel like that will be the theme this season as the boys grow.

Power seemed like our worst dman out there tonight, I think he looked nervy and held onto the puck too long. With some more games I’m confident that’ll iron out.

We’re just gonna have to hold on until the young guys get into mid-season form. Still gripping their sticks too tight and lots of passes a few inches off. Thank god Comrie seemed on top of his game tonight.

All in all, not bad against last year’s president trophy team.

  21. buscemiknowsbest

81-1 is way more attainable than 82-0 anyway.

  22. Sabres-Fan

eh, we fought hard against a top team that was playing scummy and the refs were kinda dogshit as well. I liked what i saw from a few, couple had a rough game, on to the next one!

  23. Rated_PG-Squirteen

-Trade Middelstadt for anything, but preferably a trade similar to the Jokiharju for Alex Nylander one.

-There are still way too many completely invisible players through two games.

-The PP is absolutely pathetic. Absolutely no sustained pressure in the offensive zone.

-Gotta get at least two wins on this four game West Coast trip.

-Dahlin’s gonna get some Norris votes this season, and I love his continued aggressiveness.

  24. Hinistroza will jump into lineup for Quinn, but he should replace Okposo

  25. reddishgrape

Quinn was invisible. Bryson stinks. Little forwards lose almost every battle on the wall. Comrie is average at best.

  26. Put the Skinner Thompson Tuch line back together and banish Olofsson and Mittelstadt to the 3rd line.
