  1. Oilers had a sloppy start, little intensity, wouldn’t drive to the net and let Calgary do just that. Looking for the pretty goal to start and passing up perfectly good shooting opportunities. Too much play around the perimeter and I cannot believe how many puck battles they lose. Same issues as last year. Other than that they played great.

  2. Oilers still suck defensively, nothing new. And boy do they need something for the slow starts – couple of red bulls for each before game ot smthing.

  3. This was a sad appearance we need to show up for the first period. Ceci and Skinner get nothing but praise for their game tonight, but we can't deny that Weegar is a great addition to the Flames style of hockey and Vladar played a greta game. Sad that many casual fans are already dismssing Soup and Woody for some reason. Love and hate being an Oiler fan

  4. Is woodcroft truly the man for the job? Is Campbell a true starting goalie or is it too late to bring a broken Mike Smith back?

  5. Just the second game of a long season. Hopefully they use this to clean up the play on defense and motivate these guys.

  6. I think we all know 4-1 after the first to cgy is to big of a hill to climb, although not impossible. but it's a good sign the second game of a season our team has no quit and easy fix to not hang our goalie out to dry right off the bat. We've all seen this song and dance before. We start like this every season.

  7. I feel like I have to address the elephant in the room. Has Draisaitl fully recovered from his injury? He still doesn't look quite right when moving or protecting the puck. He had some ugly turn overs in the neutral zone against Calgary not even able to stick handle through the first guy. That concerns me a great deal. It seems he's avoided a few puck battles in the corner. I get it, Calgary was sticking to him like glue, even more so than covering McDavid, but you could clearly see Draisaitl did not have the explosive skating strides that he's famous for coming through the neutral zone. I don't know, it just looks like he's still favoring his ankle when he puts significant weight on it. I might be seeing something that's not there. Lastly, did Holland or anyone else expect our goals against to get miraculously better? We've got the same defensive core..lol with the exception of Murray. IMHO, 1 goal was 100% on Campbell, should have made that save. The other 3 on atrocious sloppy defense. Maybe the message is starting to get loud and clear to Holland…gotta give up a draft pick and or top prospect to get what you want on the back end. Go Oilers!

  8. My follow up….Skinner stood on his head. Amazing talent and skill that guy has. We're lucky to have him. Bad night for Campbell. He probably wanted the win too badly from the get go. Campbell was way too focused on the win looking too far ahead rather than taking it one shot at a time. Despite the result I love our guys between the pipes this year. Congrats to Skinner, unbelievable job! Campbell will bounce back big time. I trust in JC. Come on D give our goalies a little help. Go Oilers!
