  1. 'For the second summer in a row, the Toronto Maple Leafs went out and acquired an injury-prone goaltender in whom they invested more millions and contract years than the other guy.' I really hope that Kyle Dubas learns from this mistake this time. No need to do this again, but he did…….Samsonov and Kallgren will be fine moving forward…..no more expensive inured goalies please….learn from your mistakes, please…..GO LEAFS GO

  2. I have been racking my brain since the Murray trade on why Dubas would choose not to get the 2.65M retained when his team needs that so desperately. And I believe I may have figured out as to why he chose not to. And possibly Dubas wasnt even comfortable that he would stay healthy. It all comes down to this interesting thing people have brought up including you in a previous video.Dybas did say Even on Ottawa Murray was good when healthy.
So Murray makes 4.65M approx on the cap.
To me there was going to be 2 possible outcomes in Dubas' oppinion with Matt Murray coming to Toronto.
1 . He does super well with toronto and lives up to the 4.65M or exceeds that in his level of play.
    OR
    2. He does really badly. Doesnt live up to his contract and the leafs have to find a new option.
But looking at it. What is the most logical reason Matt Murray would fail? If hes playing really well in Ottawa when healthy . what are the chances he plays well if hes healthy with a better defencive team in Toronto. Thats not very likely to happen. So the only other option there would be in his downfall in Toronto would be. What hes had all the problems with in his performance in the first place. Injuries. so Dubas figures if this thing is going to fail its probably more then 80% its going to be because of an injury. What can you do when a player gets injured. You can throw him on the LTIR. then you can find a replacement. or use that money elsewhere.

So I think why Dubas didnt give up more to get that 2.65 retained says less about how much that was going to cost and more about Dubas' belief Murray could stay healthy.
If murray gets injured and is out the year which is a definite possibility given his past. Dubas figured well if this doesnt workout which is has a good chance not to. why would I pay more to get that retained when if it doesnt work its likely because hes on LTIR in which case it doesnt matter if he got that extra retained.

Im not starting to think it was Dubas belief that there was a good chance murray would get hurt in which case it was kind of smart the more i think about it.

I believe if Dubas really thought he would stay healthy he would have paid whatever he had to to get that 2.65 retained.

  3. A groin injury isn't a huge deal and helps us big time on cap. We need to trade kerfoot to open up cap and a spot for Robertson.

  4. I could see by the trade deadline the Leafs going out and Addressing the goaltending depth of this team.
I would have to believe they had put a waiver claim on ingram just arizona was first.

Guys I could see the Leafs aquiring.

Adin Hill.- I dont see the Knights making the playoffs. If they dont . Or even before that. Brossoit is going to be back none of them are waiver exempt and I doubt with their cap theyre going to want to keep 3 goalies. I believe with 50% retained Adin is a solid #3 possible #2.

Semyon Varlamov- This is more if Murray becomes more serious and will be out long term. If the Islanders dont play well this season would have to believe Varlamov will be on the block. Varly-Samsonov- the Washington connection!

    and then of course Blackwood.
I see this being the more likely of scenerios just because They will also have Vanacek and Bernier possibly at some point this season. If NJ falls out of it by the TD I see them getting 50% retained on a Blackwood deal. expecially because they could possibly keep control being an RFA have to believe the way hes played hes gutta sign for no more then 3M per
