Unreal. This man carried the islanders until the day he left. Wish I could go back to the day he carried the isles through the first round for the first time in 20 years.
What hurt me the most about John bailing on us was this. I followed Johns OHL career..I was also an Islanders season ticket holder when we were just f’n lousy. I drove 90 miles each way daily to root for the islanders. I started the “how many days to Tavares” chant. When the 2009 draft was in Montreal I skipped the draft party at the Coliseum and drove to Montreal to be there. I put 100% into him. In the end he gave us nothing. That’s what hurt.
