I forgot to start Tuch in my fantasy 😭
I would say the sabres did really well and have done so far (2 games yeah I know)
I enjoyed the lack of commentary for the game
Buffalo showed some real fight in this game. They could have packed it in after Florida scored their 4th goal. Also, the Sabres deserved their penalties I won't argue that, but Florida committed a couple of the same exact infractions, but they were not called. The crowd was not happy…
Casey Middelstadt played 21 minutes lol…he couldn’t even score well at AHL level, 6 years later still stinks but he’s the new top line player for Sabres. This guy is slow and falls down a lot! After 20 games they will figure it out I hope, cut his icetime and play the fast, high skilled young guys instead. How many years do you give a guy to show you anything? He played more minutes than everyone even defensemen on team except Dahlin. Is he Mark Messier now?
Tkachuk as advertised, dirty player with no spine to fight.
i think buffalo would have won the game if kane was on the sabres
Sabes gotta get some hustle on the PUCK. No one on forecheck… And I think they don't understand that when you're on the PP you have 1 more player than the other team, cuz it didn't look like it…. Please can we get some decent passes and some possession. This game .ade my stomach hurts. And I don't wanna hear the excuse, oh it's a young team blabla… They're pros, they should know how to play hockey
Thank you THG
Might want to change the description lol
I'm shocked that Panthers managed to score 2 PP goals (after their PP being so horrible during last playoffs) Knight wasn't spectacular, but that one monster save was amazing. Tkachuk seems as expected. Can score. If he works as an effective agitator, that's fine. But trying to injure others, not a fan of that side of him.
eh can't beat a top team and the refs(a few soft callsa nd no calls), tkachuk was a dirty lil shit and a bad actor(tho refs ate it up). Sabres top line needs changed, skinner and oloff are death weight and Tage can only carry so much, gotta mix it up Donny… Comrie looked great despite have the defense being bad today.
Common thread I've seen from both games from the Sabres.
Way too many giveaways and turnovers by us.
Way too many odd man rushes and breakaways being given up by us too.
Power & Krebs don't look too comfortable either and constantly stunned or easily pushed off the push (but Power is looking good as QB on the PP2)
Jokiharju is very middling, not great. Make or break year for him and Mittelstadt.
Peterka is a beast and fitting in beautifully and Cozens is really coming into form too
Dahlin is getting more physical and making his presence known. Still shaking some rust off but looking very comfortable and in his element for sure.
This was a physical and brutal game but we did not back down. We fought to the end and made it close. Still trending in a positive direction for the Sabres and I'm all here for it
Like the new goalie mask magnets! As for the game, Buffalo has a ways to go. Hopefully they will learn from their mistakes and become more competitive this season.
Tkachuk an impact player in first two games!
We’re the Sabres outmatched? Of course. But they showed a lot of fight all the way to the end and that’s something that A LOT of Sabres teams in recent years (decades) couldn’t say.
Tkachuk really got under the Buffalo Sabres skin this game. Reminds me of Kadri getting under the Blues skin during the playoffs last season. Players like those two, fans of the other teams will hate them, but fans of the team those players are on love them because they know the other team will not be focused on the other members of the team and it will lead to goals and victories.
I don't know how you could watch these two games and go, oh yeah same old Sabres taking a step back. They look like the same team that was on pace to make the playoffs if they started the season in the second half.
It really feels like this is the early stages of a great rivalry the way these teams are starting to hate eachother with chucky in the mix
I’m glad Buffalo was able to keep it so close despite spending a rough amount of time in their own zone against a clearly superior team.
But that BS call on Dahlin which led to FLA’s 3rd goal changed the outcome in ways they didn’t need extra help in.
Thompson looked too invisible out there until their 4th PP chance. Power looked rather nervous; like someone well-aware there’s heaps of expectations on his big frame. He didn’t look like that in his debuts, last year.
Anyone else getting the feeling that McDavid will score 120 points and the next best point getter will have about 90? Something looks different already as to scoring, like the pendulum swung back already. 🫤
Buffalo stuck with them, they didn't get pushed around, they pushed back and they kept it close. Buffalo has work to do on more development of the young guys but they will get there, I'm sure of it. Go Sabres!
I'm a Panthers fan, but I gotta give Buffalo props. Their team looks really promising. I thought that game might go to OT. If I'm a Buffalo fan I'm happy even if I lost this one because they played great.
I'm going to follow what jerseys you wear for this year. See if it evens out or who is favored. Only for game reviews!
Regular season game reviews Shannon Jersey :
Nashville – 2
NY Rangers – 1
Montreal – 1
Seattle – 1
Detroit – 1
Florida – 1
Can't wait to get beat down by McDavid! 👍
Panthers looking a little tougher so far
Dahlin
If buffalo didn’t get so many penalties they might have won
A real early test for the young Sabres. It was kind of ugly, the way they played, but they never gave up and now have enough talent that they can make the game close even when they're clearly outplayed.
Power had some misadventures today, to be expected. Reminds me of Dahlin's rookie season. Samuelson has played REALLY well in his first two games. I've noticed his play, much more than last year. He has bailed out his partner several times this year and his goalie. Comrie seemed to make every save he had a chance on. The Montour goal wasn't great, but he could have been helped by his teammates on that one too.
So far, the Sabres number one line hasn't found their way yet. The other lines are doing fine. Peterka seems to have great awareness. I can't wait to see the player he turns in to, with more experience.
I've never seen Dahlin so mad, as he was at the end of the game. He was really giving it to the officials, LONG after the game ended. They did give him a bad penalty, a phantom crosscheck. Technically, he did a crosscheck motion, but it didn't really connect and the player fell down and drew the penalty. Don't know if it was that, or what. I think he's just super competitive and hates losing.
Panthers look legit. As expected. I won't be surprised if they win the Cup this year.
Buffalo is going to surprise this year
GO CATS
I really like how the Sabres played today. They were tough, they showed alot of heart, and they looked like they will take a step forward this year.
Tkachuk was less of a continual menace last season as coached by Sutter..expecting he will be more like his old self with Cats…
How many ex-Sabres are on the Panthers, anyway?…
Too many penalties killed us. But it was a combination of dumb penalties by the players and absolutely brutal ref'ing.
If anyone truly says, "See? The Sabres aren't any better," just didn't watch the game and are only going on the fact that they lost.
