Dumba grew up in Calgary I believe. Also, how valuable do you think takeaways and giveaways are? Tkachuk had 50 more giveaways than takeaways last season, the biggest differential of any forward. Do you think this is a concern at all?
Also, Wild lose 2m more in cap space in 2023-24, so that leaves just under 17.2m as of right now to fill I believe 9 or 10 roster spots. Assuming Tkachuk gets even 9m of that, pretty much every other player signed will have to be on a deal less than 1m, and thats tough with Matt Boldy being an RFA next year and we will likely have to pay him at the very least 4m. If thats the case, Greenway and someone else would also have to be traded away.
I just think there is no way to make it work financially that won’t handcuff us going forward. I think it would be more valuable to go after guys like Kapanen, Puljujarvi (maybe Iafallo if he is available) who are between the 2 and 4m cap hits who can be good pieces but aren’t going to take up too much of our already limited cap hit.
Plus, I kind of want to see the Blues give up the farm and then some to bring Tkachuk home and dry up their draft picks and prospect pool completely haha
No, I was thinking the exact same thing. Move Dumba and Greenway or another forward, maybe a #1. Tkachuk would be nuts in a dark green jersey, a Guerin type of player. Dumba would love to go home, and adding another player with his grit would be exactly what the doctor ordered for Minny. It’s weird, this just popped up and Guerin will be all ears. It’s still only a 10% but in the whelm of possibility…

Canadian dollar is too weak, and housing market is outrageous. No one from a us team will uproot their established family home to go get financially wrecked on top of being the vet on a rebuild team. Dumba would want to go home..after he retires.
