  1. If the Matt Murray deal had gone through, Buffalo would have have picks 7 & 9 so could have had both Kasper and Savoie, but miss out on Ohgren.

  2. if lekky was a center detroit would of picked him. I'd assume that was who Stevie mentioned in his press conference after the draft. said he wouldn't say who but if there was someone that played a different position then maybe they would've went with that person instead

  3. Fyi. The article that you are referring to is from austria and written in german and not in english

  4. You have to like both players, both Savoie and Kasper project has great pieces for their respective NHL team, but has a Detroit fan I am happy with the pick. Specially if Kasper has untapped offensive potential, Wich I do believe he has in him, he might end up being a even better center then people are giving him credit for right now.

  5. I was a bit iffy on Kasper but if Buffalo likes him that's a pretty good sign. Buffalo has had some good picks too.

  6. I don’t see it. Kasper tops out as a 2c. We have a bunch of guys that fit that mold already . Cozens , Krebs, Mittlestadt , now add in Ostlund and Kulich as well. What we need is high end offensive scoring ability , Savoie should be the guy even if Kasper was still there

  7. So I’m torn about this. I’m a Sabres fan, and going into the draft at #9 I was hoping for Savoie and I was extremely happy and excited when Adams called his name so you can imagine I’m very happy with our draft. I love that Adams was trying to be aggressive, the Matt Murray rejected trade really would’ve sent me over the top. Now we know who Adams was trying to trade up for.

  8. I trust in GMKA, Savoie has wing flex aswell and way more offensive upside so im happy. We already have Dylan cozens who will have a super impactful two way/shut down game in the very near future and showed glimpses last year. Ie, the edmonton game where he matched vs mcdavid.

  9. When you are talking moving up one spot in the top ten picks in the draft. Some one you want has to be very special. Buffalo might have had to have given up a lot, to move up one spot. Multiple more draft picks? A high prospect? The trade could have become a lot more complicated.

  10. I would trust fully that he was trying to trade up for him. We have no clue if this story is true just bc someone said it some obscure Swedish article. We don’t know when this trade discussion occurred, maybe they it was after pick 2-3 and Adams thought there’s no way Savoie lasts until 9, so let me at least try to get Kasper – the Savoie ends up falling in their laps. It doesn’t say who the source is or what they based it on; was it a simply bc of a really good interview at the combine, bc I don’t see someone on the Sabres staff leaking this. Plus with the way Adams has been drafting recently – valuing skill, scoring, speed & skating above virtually everything, makes me really believe Savoie was their guy all along.

  11. Think it’s apparent by now Sabres liked Savoie and Kasper. It wouldn’t surprise me if the edge went to Kasper bc of his size.

  12. There's an English article that talks about the same thing. Kasper's dad talked about it.

  13. I would have picked Savoie as the Wings need goal scoring , but Kasper seems like a good solid all-round player with a promising upside ! Kasper looked impressive enough in the Redwing developmental rookie camp .

  14. I really like the kasper pick for us as a wings fan. We need a first round talent center man. I’m also very excited for Neiderbach as well as I believe he is in a similar developmental stage as kasper despite being slightly older.

  15. Ill be honest, I don't see Kasper as being better than Savoie…….right now..
But I am not a scout, and I don't have the info these guys do. So obviously they know something I don't. So will just have to wait and see.
