I just heard (or thought I heard) that a player who goes through salary arbitration cannot be traded for one year. Is that true? I've been googling it but can't find an answer.
If this is true, Tkachuk must be traded before the arbitration date or they will lose him for nothing next summer. This seems like a risky path for the Flames. Their bargaining power goes down as the arbitration date approaches.
