  1. As much as we criticized smith, some well deserved. He played his heart out for the team. We can all respect that at least. If he retires I wish him luck. Who would you look for right now to be the 1A goal tender?

  2. If they trade Pulj i riot he’s gonna break out soon. Do u think they actually can keep him in any capacity?

  3. The Oilers can't rest on this laurel, it's too deep into McDavid and Draisaitl's career to call it that.

  4. They're going to push to keep Kane, Jesse's time is most likely done tbh and I would do a trade and try to package something up with Kassian/Barrie with a pick or two depending on what the return is. Goaltending is another issue which I'm going to have to pray Ken Holland has something up and perhaps move a prospect for that as well. Couldn't do it at the deadline like I said and now is the time. Time will only tell for a lot of these moves coming up. Great video Patrick! Let's Go Oilers!!

  5. Excellent wrap up video Patrick! I agree with everything you said.
Russell may stay but could also see him go as a package for a depth player. Georgiev, Holtby or Husso come to mind for possibilities. I'm hoping Holland doesn't trade for an older goalie as that has not worked out for us yet.
Skinner will likely turn out to be a star goalie, but they seem very hesitant to slot him in as a starter for next season.
Kane will be a crap shoot (no pun intended). It all comes down to a couple decisions and player moves from a bunch of other players, and Oiler staff to make this happen. Kane would be great, but I think their top need is a Star or at least 1a Goalie with a 1b with above average performance. So I think their Defense will be main focus for Cap space juggling while still trying their best to resign Kane.
If they cannot, there are still quite a few players on UFA status that could replace him at a lower cap hit and (and I hate to say this) but, have a lower penalty minute total.
Would also be a good thing to grab another good Defenseman like Gudbranson or Manson, but I'm sure the Av's will lock him away.

  6. I'm very proud of this team from being out of the playoffs in Feb. But we made it to the WCF especially with the injuries

  7. You have to admit the refs n league wanted avs to win. Looking at the horse s.hit calls against n suspension which were very similar to the hits avs delivered against.

  8. I like Smitty. For a 40 year old goalie who only makes $2 million a year, and outduelled Johnathan Quick and Jacob Markstrom you could say Smitty is one of the best "bangs for your buck" in the league……BUT, for whatever reason the team has elected to start Smith the lasr 20 playoff games for the Oilers. (including last year). His record is playoff record over the last 2 years is 8–12. He has also been chronically injured the last 2 years….and he will be 41 next year. He also is a competitor and wants to be in goal every game. In other words, he is not the type to take a back–up role. Mikko is as good as gone (and without getting a single start this playoffs I don't blame him) and Skinner deserves a promotion. Ken Holland MUST find Skinner a quality, reliable partner that is not injury prone and not facing retirement…….Regarding Jesse? He has likely gone as far as he is going to go here. He does not appewar top 6, and as a high draft pick doesn't want a 3rd line checking role. He needs a fresh start somewhere else. They could probably get something back for him. I also heard Seattle wants Spokane born Yamamoto…Time will tell. Have a great summer.

  9. Can't wait to see what Ken Holland does we need a gud goalie and a gud left wing 3rd liner or right winger..plus too can't wait too see how Holloway does in the up coming season…I hope we get a good draft pick

  10. Lot's of talk about Ville Husso. How would you like him, if Smith retires?

Otherwise, I think a due of Smith and Skinner frees up so much cap that it might not be such a bad thing. The Oilers have other holes to fill.

  11. If holland doesn't make some major changes before the start of next season. His head will be hanging in McDavids man cave

  12. Smith and Koskinen should be gone. Barrie and Keith should be gone. Russel should be gone. Kassian should be gone. Foegle? Believe it or not, gone. If Kane signs with Edmonton, Puljujarvi should be gone too. Who the hell are they gonna get on D and in goal? No Idea, but you aint winning the cup with Smith as your starter, and you are not going any further than the 3rd round with Keith playing big minutes. Barrie played decent in the playoffs, but he should not be your go to on D.

  13. The Oilers CANNOT go with Smith and Skinner next season. What a fucking waste of McDavid and Draisaitl's prime years. Skinner would be fine as a backup, but you need somebody like Gibson, Husso, or Campbell to help give them a chance.

  14. Judging by yesterday's interview with Holland, I feel like Puljujarvi will be gone. It's going to be a very interesting off-season… Holland has a tough couple of months ahead of him.

  15. Edmn needs to get rid of Nurse, atleast at 9mil its ridiculous for what hes bringing. You'd be better off with 3 Dmen at 3.3mil than Nurse at his hit. Even 2 at 4.5 and youd have a better core group.

If they can keep kane even shorterm on 1yr or 2yr deals but I think that depends on the ruling. And his agent will want to cash him out big probably. Nothing would rub his hometown the wrong way worse than bringing the cup to town in a oilers jersey though.

Way to many NMCs on that team. They either have to bargain bin hunt some cheap guys who can shine or move Nurse OUT and then use that money/assets to get a goalie and some younger mobile D in.

  16. I just hope that they don't make too many changes, the Oilers got a good team, need to build on defence and a goalie.

  17. Well it was a wild ride all yr this team kept you guessing all yr what team we were going to get night in night out and with any yr you don't win the cup it ended in disappointment but we did smoke the Flames so it takes a little sting out of it.
The biggest hole I want filled this offseason is the goaltending something this team has needed for 3 yrs now can't go a 4th yr, if Mike Smith is back next yr I'm going to serious issues getting behind this team chances of winning the cup. This team has enough scoring now we need to work on bringing in players that will help keep the puck out of our net and that starts in goal, Skinner as a future as a starter but's he's 2 yrs away from being the #1 guy.
