is there a trade in the works? why else would boudreau sit out someone who has scored and hasn't been on the ice for 1 goal against? unless the coach is in full panic mode and not thinking too clearly.
Garland should hold on to the puck more, he makes a move and throws a bad pass to often. That being said he had the same point totals as horvat last year without the massive powerplay time. Id be more apt to dump horvat and boeser.
Its simple really, Connor Garland is an asset they intend to move. With Kuzmenko and Aman hitting, they have an excess of forwards and a need for cap space and defensive help.
Connor is an expensive contract at 4.9m AAV, and he is unlikely to see any significant power play time with the glut of effective forwards on the team.
Thats just too much money for a guy who is only going to get 7th or 8th forward minutes, no matter what line they put him on.
The Canucks should be working the phones hard right now trying to move Horvat, Boeser, and Garland out of Vancouver, in exchange for bringing in NHL caliber defencemen that will help keep the puck out of their net.
Demko is still clearly feeling the effects of being over-worked last season, and does not appear sharp enough to be able to steal games for them now as he so often did last season.
You can't bring in assets unless you are willing to give some up.
Low life's talking dumping the coach after FOUR games.
I'm not surprised Garland got scratched in the end he really isn't that effective. Loses almost every puck battle. Has a weak shot. Can't hit anybody. Can only capitalizes on dirty chances or rebounds. I've been an advocate to trade him since last season. The team probably should before his contract becomes unmoveable
Immoveable contract unless we give up more draft picks… Great…
I'll take Garland any day over Boeser.
Re: Vancouver.
The Canucks are such a Dumpster fire, at this point, ANYTHING they do is gonna be wrong.
Firing/changing coaches is more for optics than anything these days.
The Aquaman has already tucked his tail between his legs, and admitted the current mix wasn't working, and spent half of last season making all these supposed changes, but ONLY in the front office, in an effort to try to distract the fans from the REAL problem which, of course is the product on the ice.
Yet, despite it being blatantly obvious they need a better defense, they did absolutely NOTHING to address the problem.
Meanwhile, Aquaman's little drama is playing out behind the scenes, he's GOT to be at least partially distracted by this, no?
To change coaches, yet again, will only perpetuate the Carnival that Vancouver brings to the NHL.
Not to mention, further damage any credibility Aquaman has left.
The Canucks are in a mess from so MANY angles, it's beyond being laughable.
Be it the woefully mismanaged cap space, which has effectively tied their hands for at least a good 3 years or more…
To the white elephant in the room nobody seems to want to address, which is Locker room chemistry.
Something has clearly been off these past few seasons, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was revealed that there is some sort of rift between either 2 players, or something bigger involving multiple players.
Whatever way you look at it, it's bad times for Vancouver, and may ultimately require new ownership.
They get cap relief from Ferland. Why is everyone talking of trading it?? Aquilini has so much money, they don’t have to worry about off ice cap issue. Analysts are thinking with the money normal people make.
Dreger is great in these kind of interviews. He gives you a lot to think about and he’s well connected.
Take out Dakota jushauh and put mukeyhev on 4th line
This is a player problem not a coach problem. They need to step up on the mental aspect of the game. They’re getting taken advantage of night after night because they’re weak minded
Just relax we are 4 games in. We have had the lead for 4 of those games. I'm just chilling waiting for this to turn around. Every game was a road game.
Small player Johnny Gaudreau beat them in overtime…
I must be watching different games if Boudreau thinks Garland should sit and Boeser plays. Boudreau is playing favourites when he sits Burroughs and Garland. Hard on Hogs and yet not a peep about Boeser and others. Something wrong in that room.
Still blows my mind how Dakota Joshua stayed in the lineup over Garland lol
garland scored the game before, then gets scratched? & they don't play him on PP? wtf
I can absolutely see Garland getting better results with another team. He’s great along the boards, especially for his size. Same with his compete level. And with his contract, some team is going to get good value should the Canucks actually move Garland, which I hope they don’t do.
