I'm not one to jump on a player right away or be unfairly critical — truly I'm not. I hate when fans do that. But it only makes hockey-sense to see Alex Newhook as an early season focal point for the Avalanche. I'm not asking him to light it up like a Christmas tree, but surely it's fair to say he is still trying to find his way out there. Anyway, here's hoping. It's only been 3 games after all. Any thoughts, C & K, or anyone else?

  2. It was good win all round and good luck at the end when the wild were missing empty nets.

  3. I think George is gonna be just fine I agree he is very quick and not constantly falling and damn I know it’s early but kuempher and grubbie look horrendous.

  4. Ah fans of a Stanley cup winning team are always funny nitpicking everything good bad and otherwise 3 games in. I would like to see Newhook a little more noticeable but it is what it is. I will say with Georgiev, he's so fundamentally sound makes sense since he's a Russian trained goalie, that is an amazing goal tender development country

  5. It's early but I was saying when they got Georgiew that he would be really good and Kuemoper wouldn't be missed. So far, so good, Georgiev is great and all three gols were deflections yesterday, almost impossible to stop.

Newhook will need to step up but it's still early, he must feel the pressure.

  6. Good early season road win. To be expected that there’s a few things to work on only three games into the season. Primarily, the PK needs some work and the 2nd line needs to get going. All things considered, I think the Avs look better now than they did this time last season.

  7. I was impressed with Georgiev. He was getting peppered all game by a pretty desperate team. As you mentioned, the most notable were the multiple saves after EJ made that bad turnover. Outstanding.
There were several occasions where Landy's absence as the guy camped in front of the net were really felt. I feel he doesn't quite get the recognition he deserves with all the superstars around him. Can't wait to see him back.

  8. That play by Byram that you mentioed on Kaprizov was really impressive. That kid has defense in his blood. Really impressive!

  9. I thought it was just a fun game to watch. I had popcorn going, I remember the Rockies and North Stars going at it when I was a kid growing up going to games at McNichols it was a great rivalry.

  10. Told ya, Georgiev is a good one, if he does not make a blunder! I have to say, MIN has a good pp, very nice ideas and passes. And boy oh boy Manson, what a game!

  11. "You're not just drinking the Kool Aid……out of the Stanley Cup" <=== Oh, NICE, Kyle!

  12. 1) A.G. is just starting to settle in. By the time the team gets back from Finland, we should really start to see how good he is truly going to be. 2) I hope Makar gets through with his "mental vacation" soon because he's been about as sharp as a bowling ball so far. 3) Toews- see point #2, same goes for him. 4) Byram and Manson. This may be the next dynamic duo in CO. 5) Ben Myers. I think by twenty games in, he's going to be pretty impressive.

  13. You want too build a goalies confidence play him when you know you'll win. You want to know how good a goalie really is, look at his power play. Power plays are 100% about your goalie. Obviously the 4 guys on the ice are needed but at its base is the question "can the goalie beat this?" Our boy last night went 2/3.

  14. Georgiev was crazy last night if Erik Johnson made that turn over with Keumper in net no hate on Keumper but I feel it would have been a goal but Georgiev was on top of it

  15. The Logan penalty was infuriating, cost me $37 to the swear jar & that jackass shoulda paid ¼ cup of blood or 1 🦷 BUSH LEAGUE! Y'all seen the Wiki edit, "Minnesota Wild are an NHL team currently owned by The Colorado Avalanche"🤣 Truer words…
