    If Ovechkin can reach or even surpass Gretzky's 894 goals, I think this will be even more impressive than the fact that Gretzky did it. Wayne dominated in an era wherein goaltending was abysmal, but OV doesn't have, and hasn't ever had, this advantage because goal scoring has been at possibly an all-time low over the past 15 years. So, the fact we're witnessing a player working towards that vaunted record….. and I'm sure when Gretzky retired, everyone thought his goal total would be untouchable, but here we are…. IT'S MINDBLOWING! The fact that OV exploded into the League 7 years after Wayne retired makes this even more staggering.

    People still think Ovechkin is one-dimensional, but these people couldn't be more wrong, because he's a sick (albeit underrated) playmaker in his own right. He has 569 Assists in his career so far, only 70 fewer than Backie and OV's has made some PRETTY DISGUSTING feeds over the years! A recent example: Game 4 of the ECF in 2018 between the Caps and the Lightning, OV backhanded a cross-ice pass to Kuzy (who finished with the tying goal). This pass was ridiculous because of the curve it had on it too.

    Story of why the goal horn/siren is the way it is. Back when they played at the Capital Centre in Maryland, it was just the siren with "Rock & Roll Part II" as the goal song. When they moved to Capital One Arena and Ted Leonsis bought the team in 1999, he began using the goal horn. Due to immediate fan backlash, the merged the two together, and it's remained that way ever since.

    I have never thought this seeing the team on TV, but on the ice, in person, they are the best looking team on the ice in the league, uniform wise.
