    Hamilton is a forward playing defence. Yes he gets points, but he is a defensive liability. Thank goodness for Slavin! I'm hoping Andersen has a good year as he didn't have any defensive help in Toronto. We'll see! It's fun to be a Canes fan. At least I don't have to hang my head in shame now. lol

    The Canes still need to sign Svech!!!! Everyone saying Reimer had an off season. He finished with the same record as Ned. He had a better record against TB. I feel the Canes should have Put him in against TB after loss #2. Lots of questioable moves and nonmoves this off season. I think we are seeing the cheap side of Tom Dundon. Don't forget the Canes also lost the D coach Dean. (I can't spell his last name LOL) So the D and penalty kill also has a big ? next to it. I just hope the front office isn't going to make the mistake of not signing Svech or make a bad trade that includes Necas or Peche or any of the top core.

    I think what gets missed with Andersen is that he's never played behind a solid defense. Canes defense might've taken a hit, but it's still far better than Toronto ever was.

    Goaltending is my problem. I think the team is weaker than last year but it's probably a team that can make play-offs and go beyond the first round.

    I think they will be a surprise just because of the goalies they got. If they can both stay healthy they will be one of the best goalie tandems in the whole league

    I just want an explanation on what they were thinking this offseason. Ned and Mrazek gone and Andersen and Raanta in, I'm sorry but that's a massive downgrade in net and then they got rid of Dougie too. I get the owner is cheap but come on man you had like $30 million in cap space. In my eyes they went from a cup contender to a solid team that will make the playoffs and maybe win a round but nothing more.

    Thanks for the good objective post and not going down the off ice drama wormhole of a certain offseason acquisition! My take as a fan is that the concern for the D and PK is getting them to gel without coach Dean C. He was key to that success. The forward group is down. McGinn is a much bigger loss than any other forward. Just a note on the flags. The single flag was a major faux pas. The locals know that the single flag is a Tropical Storm warning and double flag is a Hurricane warning. The single should have never been used.

    As a Tampa fan, Carolina is going to seriously regret trading Ndelkovich. Can’t wait to see him prove them wrong.

    I can see this team getting swept in the first round as the 2nd Wild Card against Tampa or Florida. Their approach to this off-season was literally: “Fuck it! We need a re-tool in order to save money!” Why else would you give up on all of your goalies and restructure one of the best blue lines in hockey?

    I think losing their best goalie and defenseman has to hurt so I think they have a down year at 4th in the metro, but they still will make it into the playoffs easily, with a record that would be top 3 in any other division

    I honestly think Andersen will have a great season with that defence, compared to Montreal and his health hopefully at 100%

    Swept Rangers, essentially giving them Lafreniere.
    Gave Rangers Norris winner Adam Fox for two picks that will most likely not stay in NHL
    Lost their Calder nominee goalie Ndelkovich and best Dman Hamilton for nothing.
    Roasts Nashville for banners while raising division champion banner
    Owner wants "Nascar-like' Jerseys

    Can a NHL team sign a free agent in the off-season even if it puts them over the salary cap as long as they get it under control before the season starts
