You can only judge people's mistakes if they don't improve on them. But when the are right you don't acknowledge them.
Can't believe how many think this was a good trade….it was not….it was a necessary trade to FIX his ERROR….a good trade would have been a GM trading down in the draft by using the 25th overall to another team and picking up an extra pick for a team that went into this draft with only 3 picks to begin with.
I am so worried about leaving the goaltending issues in Dubas' hands…..can't shake this bad feeling he is gonna repeat the Mrazek mistake and sign someone for too long and too much what with the limited amount of options…..Campbell,Kuemper and Murray all scare me as options

Fraser Minten was on their radar and the organisation has said that it couldn't have worked out better that he was still availible. More over, moving the 25th pick for the 38th given the chance that they become NHL regulars ( to dump 3.8 mil ) is genius. The chances that they just passed over the next Datsyuk is Astronomical.
The Amount of goalies available has shrunk significantly , butso has the amount of teams going to be looking for a 5 plus million dollar goalie.The only teams looking for goaltending at that price is Buffalo, Edmonton, and washington. my gues is Kuemper will end up in Washington. which leaves Campbell edmonton and buffalo. I could see edmonton. but i dont think he would want to go to buffalo to play out his next 5 years. wo it between edmonton and toronto for me for him. The Devilscould be a darkhorse here as they could elect to trade blackwood.
I just personally see Campbell staying inToronto. I personally think the leafs knew they were going to have to free up cap space to resign him. they did by moving mrazek. personally i think its just posturing by both sides. it will happen on the last day of free agency like a nylander deal. but it will get done. in the 4.5-4.75 range

Dubas is very good in some ways and terrible in others. Great drafting excepting Amirov when they passed over Braden Schneider – stupid at the time and stupid now(nothing to do with the medical situation) Trading Kadri was stupid – tragically stupid then, more stupid now. Signing Tavares was simply catastrophic. Paying Marner that much was just amateur. Nick Ritchie, Mrazek, Simmonds, ugh… The good is obvious: UFA's Bunting, Kampf, picks like Knies, Niemela, Sandin, Holmberg etc… He's learning but the Leafs could be closer to the Av's right now without the costly mistakes. So many fans want to pretend these mistakes are just things that happen but they really complicated and hampered a powerful rebuild trajectory for the Leafs…
4M X 3 MAX for Campbell .He wont get more than that on the open market .I am not comfortable with Campbell as a clear cut #1 .I do like Campbell in a tandem with another veteran to share the net ( that was the plan with Mrazek but it did not pan out ) I dont know why the Leafs are not interested in Holtby ,Yes he had injury issues last year but he has a Cup ring and he could probably he had as a free agent for 4M X3 .He is only 33 and probably will bounce back
Let me know when Dufus is gone, Nylander is traded and Toronto has a NEW NHL team cuz the Leafs are only worrying about winning the WOKE awards in the NHL.
I dont think the Media has really been touching on the ACTUAL goalies the leafs could be targeting now. My list is way different then anyones ive seen,
1) Alex Nedelkovic- I think with the Signing of Husso , Yzerman could possibly look to move Nedelkovic.
2) Ilya Samsonov- I truely believe after seeing Vanecek moved and Samsonov not signed yet. Washington is going to swing for the fences expecialy with the cap space from LTIR backstrom. I think Washington is going after Kuemper making Samsonov expendable.
Toronto I believe could sign Samsonov in the 3M range.
3) Cap Talbot – I believe Talbot will want to be the clear #1 with the signing of FLeury I doubt he gets that.
But I truely believe Samsonov is Dubas #1 Target. hes an RFA therefor he can get him locked up with a bit of leverage rightnow.
I dont think he will get a huge amount of money Dubas can probably lock him in at 4×3-3.25M Leaving him room to get another tandem goalie. I truely believe Samsonov is his target butit hasnt happened yet because Washington needs to make sure they can sign Kuemper.
@DTSB You heard it here first. Washington signs Darcy Kuemper to a 5 year5.75M Contract. Immediately turns around and trades the rights of Ilya Samsonov to Toronto , Toronto then in turn signs Samsonov to a 3 year 3-3.25M Contract. Or Signs Holby to the same contract
G Keumper, 32, hurt every year…Murray….NO thanks…Campbell, dreadful second half, and terrible numbers in the playoffs… and injuries, 30….NO thanks…move on…..figure it out….and Dubas will.
