5 games played, the Oilers have a great team. I expect them to be in the playoffs this year. They are in a division that is wide open with Calgary and Las Vegas. Lots of talent and room to be successful, Good Luck Edmonton 🍁
I think the Carolina game is the only game the Oilers have dictated play and hopefully that doesn’t continue for very long as they keep missing points and falling farther behind. I think the road trip coming up will get the juices flowing better than home cooking.
Draisaitl had a real tough game. His penalty lead to the game winning goal and he lost the faceoff leading to the empty netter. He has to be better. Outside of that way too many guys aren’t doing anything. Puljujarvi 0 points in 5 games making 3 million. Yamamoto 1 point in 5 games making 3 million. Kulak 0 points when he is expected and paid to be the 2nd pair d man. Foegele 0 points. Ryan 0 points. Shore 0 points. Murray 1 point. Lack of depth will drown this team. Way too many below average players right now.
The Oilers passing was off in general leading to many turnovers.
It is a blessing, really, to be playing these elite teams early in the season and take pointers on what needs attention.

Drai has to be better. Yes he is elite and one of the best passers in the game. That being said it’s 2-3 times a game he is giving the puck away on passes he normally makes with ease. Also not sure if Kulak has new skates/blades or the sharpening is a bit different but the blowing the tire on the blue line needs to stop. Last point is JP. Super frustrating to watch the play die all to often with him involved. He was an analytical beast. So far this year his stat lines are awful.
