  1. Hey Shannon, quick suggestion for your list of players: add their position in front of their names. I know it’s probably slightly annoying, but for people like me who don’t know as much about hockey, having the quick reference for who plays where would really help! Great video and great channel!

  2. I find most teams below the elite Cup contenders sell less than I think they should. Columbus should keep Laine and Roslovic, and I expect they will do that. I think your suggestions of moving Nyquist and Korpisalo are good ones, but I suspect Columbus will move one of them, at most.

  3. I think they'll do a "controlled" sell, as you put it. My top guys to watch on the trade block would be Nyquist, Korpisalo and Roslovic. Roslovic's game has really slid off this year. He's been relegated to the 4th line and barely plays (maybe 6-7 minutes a game). He's a Columbus kid, so I know Jarmo probably would love to make it work, but he also has to do what's best for the roster.

Should be an interesting deadline for CBJ.

  4. Great analysis THG. As a Blue Jackets fan, we have been waiting all season for them to string some wins together. Of course as the deadline approaches, they have three consecutive wins but it will take a ten game streak to get back into the playoff hunt.

Jarmo always seems to surprise us. As much as I love Domi’s heart and professionalism, I think he will be traded. Laine is a peculiar dude with what seems to be no heart and no enthusiasm. I wouldn’t mind seeing him gone and luckily he has been on fire lately so maybe another team will see some value there. Extending Laine will be tough even as a UFA – he doesn’t want to be in Columbus. They should trade Korpi but I just don’t know what they would get in return. Korpi could have been traded last summer except for the Kivlenieks tragedy. I think Vorecek is a critical veteran to have in the room.

It will be interesting to see what Jarmo does. I pretty much guarantee that he will make at least two moves.

  5. Of the players mentioned, Korpi goes, Domi is likely traded (although that is too bad, I think he could make a valuable contribution to this young team as it matures). I hear that Nyquist and Roslivic are also possibilities if they get an offer that knocks Jarmo over, but again, I hope not. One piece they need in return is a strong physical right hand D man with top four potential.

  6. I'm guessing Domi and Korpi might go, other than that they stay put. They have a lot of good pieces in place going forward.

  7. I think Domi & Korpi are for sure gone. Nyquist might get a good price since he has better stats than Toffoli does at the time of this video. Main goal is to get Laine resigned long term and build around him. Jackets need d help tho. Would like to look at adding that in a trade at the deadline or at the draft.

  8. Should trade laine now that his value has gone up, he can take 1 year 7m contract if he wants and walk so…

  9. I think Domi definitely moves, Nyquist and Roslovic possibly – and those will be the big-return moves. They'll try to get Korpi to somewhere he wants to go and take less for him – his tenure has been backup to Bob, short window, injury, short window (bubble), timeshare, then back to backup – and he has never once complained or spoken out publicly. You get guys like that to where they want to go. Then you bring up Meyer, Foudy, Christiansen, and keep TFW in the lineup for the rest of the season, and hope for another top-5. Shouldn't be a reach with the schedule laying out as brutally as it is.
Laine's a weird question. I don't think he moves at the deadline unless someone steps up with major assets, including a 2023 1st. Over the summer – if we can get him at 8, 8.5M, I think we keep him for a while. If we can't, we trade him at the draft. I'm not sure another QO makes sense at this point, not for Columbus anyway.

  10. Controlled sell with hopes that they are/will be playoff race

  11. I will never try to play GM, but I would love to see Jarmo do his thing to continue to build for the future. As much as Id love to be in the playoffs this year or next, I would rather put together a team who can really make a run at it in the future. I still enjoy watching this young team, so even if they lose it is still a fun product to watch.

  12. As a jackets fan I love domi for his energy but I don’t see him here long term I expect them to move him and korpi for some defensive help. And I hope and pray we can re sign laine he’s my favorite player

  13. I mean, the Teams have A History Of Trading With Each Other, And, The New York Rangers got Panarin, so, why not Get Laine? What Do You Think?

  14. I'm not sure I'd call it total sell off, but I think they send domi, and I wouldn't be shocked if they sell gavrikov based on the total need of dmen for some top teams. I'm sure they'd like to move korpi, but goalies bring back nothing for return, so that won't do much. Still, Columbus could really have 4-5 first round picks this year.

  15. I'm a columbus fan, was wondering when your next CBJ video would be. I think that like you said they try to extend Domi, if they cant get it done they trade him. I think they want to get a trade done for Korpisalo but his value isnt high right now. And they may trade nyquist it's about 50/50 for me right now. As far as Laine and Gavrikov I think they will both get long term extensions in the summer

  16. Jarmo is making bank on that Jones trade , Sillinger is only 18 but he’s making a difference, and Boqvist has a shot on the point….oh plus the 1st overall from the hawks this year that is probably a top 10 pick

  17. If they could get a decent return on Domi, I would take it, just because I don't like what I see despite the slight bounce back in terms of points. He still doesn't look like he did in Arizona or the early days of Montreal, and I think he's just lost whatever he had. Obviously, if he's willing to take a pay-cut and land in the 4ish range on a 1-3 year deal, I would take the risk, but nothing more in terms of cap or term, even if I had to given him a modified clause on a 2-3 year deal.

I'm keeping Laine unless he really wants to walk and trading Nyquist and Korpasalo. I think you're right that Korpasalo is being evaluated by some by his previous play and I think Nyquist isn't a player they're keeping around for more than a year or two and would rather trade him and bring in somebody else a little younger if I want a mid-range winger who can play an acceptable two-way game.

  18. Laine is tough to read though he either looks pissed or in a great mood but I hope they keep Laine and I hope Jack stays too.

  19. I do not think that Jarmo goes big either as a seller or buyer by the deadline. I think Jarmo is going to have a long talk with Laine in Finnish to see what Patrik's plans are for a long term deal. If talks do not go well (Panarin 2.0), then I think Laine could be gone, of course he could end up with a 5 year deal also. Domi and Korpi are probably gone, with the Jackets picking up a salary dump player as a sweetener to get a better draft pick/prospect for Korpi. Roslovic is a harder decision, while his offensive numbers are down, I think he has improved defensively, which is a plus, so I can see Jarmo wanting to keep him as he improves his overall game. But that being said, if the right offer comes in, I can see him getting traded.

  20. Jackets still have 3 games vs boston – sweep them, gain 6pts, plus win a couple extra here or there, and who knows what cinderella story could happen.

  21. They will go get some 35 year old plus that use to be great but out of there prime .

CBJ always goes for the used scraps lol
