  1. Fedorov, nothin against Pavs, but Fedorov is most complete player ever

  2. Ever since Datsyuk left the wings have been boring. He was the most exciting player I’ve ever seen play the game.

  3. Makes me feel great when my question gets turned into a video all of its own. Thank you Woodward Sports crew, you do a tremendous job! LGRW🏒🤘🐙

  4. 1. Lidstrom 2.Yzerman 3. Datsyuk 4.Hasek 5. Federov are the best Red Wings I ever watched Live.

  5. I think Datsyuk was incredibly strong especially in his legs – lower body why he was so hard to knock down or off the puck

  6. We have had such fortune as fans to even be having this discussion. But for me, Pavel Datsyuk was an artist on an entirely different level. He was poetry in motion. And then pair that astounding skill with his humble personage and selflessness. He is a once in a lifetime talent and I loved every moment watching him play.

  7. Pavel Datsyuk has the best hands I’ve ever seen, Federov is the best two way forward ever, this is impossible.

  8. LOVE them both- for me Sergei was the most electric player I’ve ever seen in person. The Wings were blessed to have both of them. FYI I’m a Wings guy but live in the Seattle area now- hence the Kraken logo. I really really hope #91 is lifted to the rafters soon. It shouda been at JLA but make it fuckin happen at LCA.

  9. I’ll tell you this; McCarty scored probably the greatest Stanley Cup winning goal in history. And I was there with my dad. Will never forget it. Thank you Darren !

  10. As someone who watched both eras, Pavel. One of the top 5 most skilled guys in NHL history imo.
You hear "Datsyukian" used as an adjective, not "Sergeian".
Fed is still one of the best to wear the wheel though.

  11. Datsyuk is literally one of the GOATs. His numbers weren't flashy but his defense was so good that he nullified guys like Crosby and Malkin.

  12. Datsyuk. He's the most skilled player to ever touch the ice by a country mile, its not even close. Not knocking Fedorov either, its just Datsyuk was in a league of his own. And if Datsyuk wasn't injured in the finals in 2009, I strongly believe the wings would have won back to back cups.

  13. Federov was so good skating you could play him on defense. Datsyuk had better hands, but Sergei was the better skater.

  14. Fedorov……when he was at the top of his game he was unbelievable 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  15. Pav is the better player if that's what we're asking. If I'm starting a team tomorrow, post SY, Lidstrom, Yzerman, Pav, Konstantinov, Federov, Zetterberg, Shanahan

  16. If the RedWing's haven't gotten a coach yet why not GM., Stevie Yzerman he should consider it at least.?

  17. I think the key to this question is how it's phrased. If it was "who was the better hockey player," then it's a tough call and you can go into what made each of them great. The question was "who amazed you more" which to me would be Pavel, without a second thought. Dude was the Magic Man because he left you in awe at what was possible.

  18. Would've loved to see what prime Fedorov would have done without the two line pass rule

  19. I think it boils down to differences physically between the two, kind of like what McCarty alluded to. I think Federov was more physically gifted, could rely more on his physical gifts, whereas Pav was more creative and gifted mentally, had to always be thinking. I've heard Pav described as a genius by many people, including interviews with other NHL players, because his intelligence and creative were off the charts, but I've never heard anybody describe Fedorov as a genius (that was Larionov), for Fedorov's physical gifts were so great that he could do anything.

How I would describe it is—Fedorov's star burned brighter, but Pav's star burned longer. If I had to pick one to win a game, I'd choose Fedorov. When Fedorov was on, he was on like no one else. But there will always be his lack of consistency, whereas Pav was always consistent. I can't recall a game where I thought that Pav didn't show up. So if I had to pick one for an entire season's worth of play, I'd choose Pav.

  20. Can you imagine if Datsyuk and Fedorov were linemates both in their prime?!?! AND their would have been more cups I bet…

  21. Pavel had the slinky moves and agility of a circus acrobat, but Sergei had the raw speed of a sprinter. The Wings desperately need BOTH skills to compete.

  22. Players don’t even wear their numbers out of respect anyway so just send the banners up already.

  23. Datsyuk and Federov…. Pretty close. Federov had a 5 goal game, an overtime winner to win 5 to 4. Datsyuk just did some ridiculous things though. McDavid is clearly the best ever. Crosby is on the all-time JV team.

  24. Great question and great debate topic. DMac hit it on the nose, two best physically gifted hockey players we have ever seen. Only thing I wish is that Fedorov wasn’t such an enigma. If Sergei would have given it 💯 throughout his career he’d be in the topic of top 5 players all-time. We saw what he could do when he turned it on. ‘98 playoffs when he had a $25 million bonus at stake he was unstoppable. ‘94 when he was the man while Yzerman was out he was MVP. The list is endless. Both were good on defense but edge to Pavel. Stickhandling goes to Pavel but you didn’t see anyone handle the puck like Pavel before he was in the league. Edge in shot to Fedorov, but to be fair that really wasn’t Datsyuk’s game. Both players were amazing to watch and we were lucky as DRW fans to see them

  25. Today I will watch seek to watch footage from the Federov, Datsyuk days…plus Yzerman. Glory days, great player’s. Legends all!!!

  26. Darren Mc destroying Claude Lemieux was one of the most exhilarating moments of standup (Drapes) I’ve ever seen. Thank you D-Mac!!! I still hate the Avalanche!

  27. Red Wings should hire McCarty to teach wings like Rasmussen, Seidel how to fight. They’ll be going after Morris from now on, and can you imagine a tough Rasmussen. Plus Sunquist seems willing and Wallander, Edvinsson definitely better be able to hold his own or he’ll be injured and ruined !!

  28. Patrick Roy said fedorov shot was the hardest shot in the league
