tbf i feel like if a player is getting many multi-point games the series shouldn't go to 6 or 7 games but given how weak the oilers secondary scoring is, McDavid has to in order to win, still impressive none the less, will be interesting to see how many other multi point games McDavid can collect in the playoffs and if he has any other amazing feats
Mcdavid’s performance in games 5-7 is one of the best stretches of hockey I’ve ever seen played. He seemingly created a scoring chance on every shift for 3 straight games. 8 points, +6, and topped off last night by that beast mode goal. He’s on a completely different level.
LA lost this in Game 6. It was over then. They gave McDavid the chance to show his awesomeness at home — and he did.
If this is how the oilers play from here on, Look out.

I was lucky to have a buddy whose Dad's company had season tickets in Edmonton so I saw a lot of the amazing Gretzky & Co. 80s games in person, and I've been a fan of hockey since the early 60s but I've never seen a performance like McDavid's last night. What I wouldn't have given to be there with the crowd so loud I couldn't hear myself yelling as loud as I could at a hockey game like that.
Yesterday we locked in the battle of Florida. Hopefully Calgary wins to set up the battle of Alberta

Undermanned and undersized Kings took Edmonton to 7 games, I wouldn't be to quick to say Edmonton is in top form and I'd be worried about facing the teams ahead with vets and size giving them a lot more to handle than the Kings did! Meanwhile, the Avs very well rested!

Smith played very well entire series. McD was the difference in the end. g6 and G7 by him, wow. I’m not convinced this EDM team is any different b/c LAK was supposed to get crushed anyway. However McD raised his playoff level. I still take Quick to be in net for G7. Could’ve been 6-0 or 7-0.
LA has some if the dirtiest dirt ball players I've witnessed in a long ing time.

Just my own opinion but it should be McDavid 1st star for goal and assist and just insane play for whole game

POWERFUL PASSING OF THE TORCH! did anybody see that ESPN post game feed? As background, Gretzky, a former oiler and king, had predicted (as an Atlanta based panelist on TNN, ESPN) that the Kings would win in 6 and doubled down, that they would win game 7.
Connor had the headset on after the victory. Gretzky waxed poetic about how he put the team on his shoulder, like a champion … how did he feel after the win.
Connor said "F*** you Gretz, you're not an Oiler!" pulled off the headset and walked off. Goofy looks from the panel preceded a cut to commercial before the american panel interviewed some other goof.
Good for Connor. That is how you pass a friggin torch.

Sean Durzi did his best Drew Doughty imitation on the 2nd Oilers' goal – he stopped playing, opened up his mouth and started complaining to the referee while McDavid was given free way to score. Sean Durzi has learned well from Drew Doughty!
Kopitar took many, many shifts off, played lazily and played the way he has since he signed his 8 year, 80 million USD deal which was he couldn't care less about winning. Also, McLellan continued to keep the same players on the power play even though they were horrific at scoring on it, continued to play Kopitar on the first line even though Kopitar doesn't make players around him better and hardly anyone scores goals when playing with Kopitar, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
LA should be really proud of how they played. They were lucky to even be in the playoffs and missing Doughty definitely hurts the team arvidson as well. McDavid was phenomenal. Great goaltending. Close series. I really feel for LA. They really needed a goal from Kopitar or somebody
McDavid literally willed us passed the Kings (and he had help and Smith was great, but still it all comes back to McJesus). I've never seen him more happy about scoring too. I was at a Boston Pizza at in Spruce Grove (30 minute drive west of Edmonton) and we could not hear the broadcast the vast majority of the time it was so loud. Not complaining of course. Also Smith now has a career stat line of 100% W , 100% save percentage, and 0.00 GAA in game 7s. Legendary stats.
I really thought the Kings could win the series, but even though they lost I'm still incredibly happy as a Kings fan. Nobody thought they would sniff the playoffs let alone with their top two D being hurt most of the season and dealing with constant injuries to their core guys. Then to bring the Oilers to a game 7 was impressive. It's cliche, but you need playoff experience to win and I honestly saw a lot of improvement from the young guys throughout this series. The future looks bright for the Kings and I'm definitely very excited for next season with Doughty back, Quick looking like he has his game back and is hungry for another cup and the young guys on the team showing so much improvement and tenacity throughout the entire season and series. GKG!!!
