For the Canucks to pivot and “tank” the current core I think will most likely want out. For all the losing petey, demko and Hughes has had with the team do you think they would want a rebuild? Just for a chance to get Bedard….with Canucks luck they tank and get 4th overall!
That J.T. Miller contract will be an albatross going forward. I posted here, after they signed him, that It was a lot of money for a player who has had only one standout season.

As a Canucks fan I am 100% on board with a rebuild.
Walker hasn't looked great since coming back from injury. He missed most of the year last season with a knee injury & puck to the face the year before. I'd imagine he'd be available, but doubt many teams would be interested in waiting on Walker getting back up to speed.
Mathew’s is another good first overall pick
I don't believe Montreal needs another RHD. They have three in the lineup now, Guhle and Harris can and have played RD, plus they have Barron, who can come up in case of injury. When Matheson returns, I would keep the young D core together, rotating rookies and veterans in and out of the lineup, and although I like him, trade Edmundson. With the young D like Guhle, Harris, Xhekaj, Kovacevic, Barron and Mailloux, Montreal's defense looks good for the future.

Reaction in Vancouver is way overblown. Blame Management for not addressing problems with the D core (though their hands were tied to some degree). Boudreau walked on water 6 months ago, now his neck is on the block? Geez… Vancouver is making Leaf Nation look calm, cool, and collected by comparison. If there's no progress by 20 games, then start to make some serious moves. It's too early to be pounding on the panic button.
