I saw this at 3:30 this morning, instantly thought of you… that sounded weird!
Hey Nick you've got your head coach! As you said it definitely has been an interesting off season for your sharks including hiring Mike Grier as GM and now David Quinn as head coach.
In my opinion three years is good, let's also remember this guy has a winning record in his last two seasons.
I like how David Quinn has been hired at the start of a rebuild and he isn't as stuck as he would be if he was hired in the middle of a rebuild.
As you said there's a connection between the GM and the head coach which is maybe a reason for the hire but also means hopefully there's a good relationship between both men Again as you mentioned he's got a lot of coaching experience but not a lot of NHL experience so it will be interesting how he handles certain situations that come along the way, good mention by Grav.
Love the video!
The more I look into Quinn, the more I like what I see. Seems like the type of coach Bob Boughner imagined himself to be.
I like Quinn, as a NY Ranger fan. He is worthy of coaching in the NHL. I hope he is successful. He is a Boston guy so he will probably need to adjust a bit to California vibe…
Quinn should be a good tank commander for the next 3-5 years.
I think it's a good hire.
I was really hoping Worsofsky was given a chance. He clearly knows how to work with younger players, he could’ve relied on the vets for leadership while focusing on the young players. Get Coe, Ozzy, Eklund, Bordeleau all in the line up and see how they perform. Send them down if needed but give them a shot.
Good Luck with that Sharks, because Nic that’s your most Fav Hockey 🏒 Team . David Quinn
Thanks for the Video & the Objective Analysis, Especially Since It's Exactly What I Say, even being Rangers Fan. I agree and have been saying that I think that He Exceeded Expectations Especially Given That He Was A First Time NHL Coach. He's Got To Do A Better Line Changing Lines Quicker, Rather Than Risking Them Running Out Of Gas
Shark fan here. Any changes are good at this point. I welcome everyone to the new Shark family.
Be an interesting season with all the coaching changes. Hopefully fruitful for some. Is this a typical year for hiring and firing of coaches?
Look, we all know that the Plattner refuses to rebuild, that Grier signed a bunch of oddballs. And the fact that we have so many young players that need development. The Sharks can't tank for Bedard, they still have too much talent.
I'm not wild about the Quinn hire…but willing to give him a chance,. Hopefully he learned a few things from that NYR tenure. But I would have hired Bruce Cassidy, who did a fine job in Boston. But Grier hasn't given him a lot to work with…he let Burns go but hasn't gotten anything in return. The other hires he's made don't inspire confidence – they need more depth scoring, but I don't see how the grinders he hired are going to supply that.
He is okay but late hire
I was kind of rooting for Joey Sacco, but Quinn will do. The best thing is GM Wilson is gone so perhaps we sharks fans will not being seeing so many stupid/bad long term contracts for short term gain aka the often injured EK65 . FYI the reason Boughner got fired was there was no Evander Kane on the team, a big, big mistake by Joe Will and not Boughner's fault. Professor Hockey's thoughtful analysis indicates this year's team is already "in the tank", not to be confused with the arena of the same nickname. UFA Timo Meir is most likely going to leave for more cup worthy contenders. Maybe I'll just cancel my comcast subscription to save some cash as SJ sharks won't be much to look at this season as per your sage advise.
I'll take a chance on Quinn, I like the synergy of Grier, Quinn and McCarthy and their close-knit professional and personal relationships…
I think Grier if trying to pull a Vegas by collecting goalies (instead of defense like VGK) and then using them to trade for the players they really need like GOAL SCORERS…
Quinn will win,watch.
A lot of criticism from New York fans.
