I personally prefer the Halak route of speaking about his play and taking accountability for it, rather than complaining that a guy better than you by a country mile gets more playing time and blaming your subsequently poor play on everything but yourself.

    Wow, what?…

Competitive athlete wanted to play games and had 2 years on the other guy they brought in and got frustrated when he didn’t get to play as much? MILD SHOCK.
Everybody knew that Shesty was the future, Im sure Georgiev included. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get to be frustrated about it. It’s like losing a job you really want to someone else.

We all know Georgie requested a trade. We all knew this was the reason. It’s tough to be a backup for some goalies

I get it, you want to play more as a pro. I hope we torch him tonight but otherwise I hope he does well. Loved Georgie.

I haven’t been afraid to shit on Georgiev for not being able to stop a beach ball on a breakaway but I understand where he’s coming from here. You’re career’s only so long and you’re trying to set yourself and your family up for life financially. If there was a mega prospect in front of me I’d be frustrated too.

He seems to have been annoyed that the NYR anointed Shesterkin as their future #1 netminder without much of a competition taking place to determine who it should be. Georgiev was disadvantaged (I guess?) by not coming up through the KHL as IS did, but it was clear that IS was a guy who could play against pro-level talent. It seems like everyone is in a better place now – I mean, c’mon, AG is the goalie for one of the best teams assembled in recent years.
