Le jeu blanc était le premier de la saison de Sorokin et le 11e dans la LNH. Il a égalé le record des Islanders avec sept la saison dernière. Kyle Palmieri a marqué ses deux premiers buts de la saison pour les Islanders (3-4-0), qui ont mis fin à une séquence de trois défaites consécutives. Jaroslav Halak a réalisé 26 arrêts pour les Rangers (3-3-2), qui en ont perdu quatre de suite (0-2-2). Palmieri a marqué sur un tir instantané de la fente qui a battu le côté gant de Halak à 8:44 de la deuxième période pour une avance de 1-0. Les Rangers ont dominé les Islanders au chapitre des tirs au but, 15-8, en première période. Leur meilleure chance contre Sorokin a été la tentative de jam de Mika Zibanejad avec 5:37 à jouer dans la période. Adam Fox a frappé la barre transversale en deuxième période. Josh Bailey a prolongé l’avance des Islanders à 2-0 à 5:37 de la troisième période. Bailey a coupé en diagonale de l’aile gauche à travers la fente avant de faire basculer le tir frappé d’Adam Pelech du cercle droit devant Halak. Palmieri a fait 3-0 à 15:22. Son tir du bord du cercle droit a rebondi dans et hors du filet. Le jeu a continué pendant quelques instants avant que le klaxon ne retentisse et que l’annonce du but ne soit faite. Not panicking yet since it’s only October, but the Rangers need to snap out of it. 3 of the 4 losses we’ve suffered during this losing streak were against bad teams.
I just don't get how we go from competing for first place in a tough division and making it as far as we did in the playoffs to what we're seeing right now

Gallant needs to pull a herb brooks and make them do suicides until they couldn't move, these last few games have been an absolute joke with maybe one or two players actually trying and playing hard. If they don't want to get the herb brooks treatment then they will never half ass and put no effort into the games or will have that repeat each practice until they do. The talent is off the charts but talent isn't worth shit if you can't be bothered to put effort in each game and actually play hard, yeah, its not the playoffs but this lack of effort is beyond ridiculous. Especially after being the team to lose to San Jose, then get destroyed by not even attempting to play hard at all to Columbus….then barely put in any effort to get a point in a shoot out loss to former teammates, and then pull this shit tonight. What other option is it going to take? They didn't give a fuck after any of those piss poor games, Gallant needs to do the herb treatment, if that doesn't work, nothing will because putting on an embarrassing performance hasn't done shit for them to redeem themselves.

This is EXACTLY what the job of the man wearing the C is for & about!! (thank God Kreids didn't get it as he's just proving to be going back to Mr. Inconsistent/Invisible once again!) I have no clue whatsoever how/why this team, that had such camaraderie/brotherhood during the playoffs just months ago, can be so UNINSPIRED & DIS-JOINTED now; ESPECIALLY against the weaker teams in the NHL!!!
In fact, this is a COMPLETE flip-flop of what they were last season. And while I happen to believe this should've been addressed 2 games ago, this is something Troubs DEFINITELY needs to address NOW b4 it gets even more out of control!!
