Look, I shit on the team but that’s all in good fun in wanting my team to win. It’s a fucking sport. Leave families, kids, personal life, etc. out of it. Death threats in any capacity are wholly unacceptable. It’s a *sport*.

Look, the millions and the adoration for sports stars are not unconditional.
If EM gives up 3+ goals a game and is under .900 every year, he’s not going to be loved. He’s not entitled to that.
At the same time, no one should jump in his or his wife’s DMs and say toxic stuff. That’s inexcusable no matter how well or how Meh he’s played. Knock it off if that’s you!

Booing the team, or hell, even Elvis himself, is fair game. We are fans. It’s part of the game. I’m sure he and his family understand this even if they hate it.
However this shit is completely out of bounds. Leave the families out of it. Certainly don’t bother them online (they have literally 0 barring on Elvis making a save or not), and 100% certainly don’t harass her/the baby in public. What is wrong with people?

That’s utterly fucking unacceptable behavior and I hate that Elvis and Aleksandra have been made to feel unsafe in what should be their own community just because this fucking sports team is playing badly. I hope they’re holding up okay.
Maybe it’s good that people in our sub air out their whiny grievances during our GDTs so that doesn’t manifest into some crazy shit like what Elvis’ wife is mentioning here.
Be as upset as you want that your favorite sports team isn’t performing to your expectations, but remember regardless what investment you have whether that be time or money: these are also human beings.
They’re not circus animals for your entertainment who you can threaten and abuse because they’re not getting you your return on investment.
If any sporting event EVER makes you so upset that you do some of the shit Mrs. Merzlikins addresses here, then you need to take some serious time off from sports and re-evaluate your priorities in life.
People need to realize the absolute toxicity running through this fan base affects the players and the way they play. Not to mention the fact that bullshit like this happens. It’s a game. On top of that this is the team you *support*. If you can’t actually support them when they’re struggling then go the fuck somewhere else.
