I most certainly am having a good chuckle myself.
The Capitals playoff series was a setback for the teams development. It made them believe they were a better team then they really were and the rebuild was ended too son as a consequence. The Leafs don't have a whole lot of players on that roster they managed to draft and develop outside the first round.
The Leafs are bad because of inept management. This years team is worse than last years team even With a healthy Muzzin. Dubas should be fired because of Holl, and Engvall. Holl was never an NHL D man but Dubas paid him like one and now that Muzzin on LTIR the chickens have come home to roost. Management is inept because they decided to bring back the same team that had a record season last year and lost another first rounder. Dubas brings in another Sault Greyhound injury prone player in Murray. Wait for the howls of, “we have key players injured”. Many team have players injured and weather storms. It’s only 10 games, and you can never judge a team until at least 20 games played! Well, look who the Leafs have lost to. What are most likely non playoff teams, and Muzzin ain’t comin back to help the D, and you Still have Holl And Engvall. The Leafs should(?) make the playoffs this year But only as a Wild Card. When’s the last time the Leafs had good, not even great management? When was the last decade where the Leafs actually mattered come playoff time?
Obviously they're just tanking for Bedard. Better to try for that than pick in the mid first round every single year
I’m suffering from the NFL equivalent, I’m a Lions fan. We have some talented players, and we can score on offense, but our defense is so very, very bad. They were going to be not great this season, but it shouldn’t be like this. They’re bad by accident, and they’re not getting blown out by teams. They’re just not good at finishing games, and it’s so very frustrating. At least I have the Bolts, though

It's just sad right now. Losing isn't the issue, it's their lack of care. They don't care that they're doing bad. They're giving up on the people that pay them millions.

Their performance is just downright depressing
At this point, Dubas – and maybe Keefe – should be on the hot seat. The Leafs have had the same glaring issues year after year, and yet nothing is being done about them.
Well they aren't "bad" which is the thing. They are mediocre, just middle of the line. Bad teams try to tank. Leafs are trying and are just sort of meh right now.
Granted they were really meh to start the season last year and ended up setting a points record so, maybe theres hope?
Their record against teams that suck– not just this year, but going back seasons, is extraordinarily bad. And this really tells the story. Firing Dubas or Keefe isn't going to change that going forward. This is a Leaf Tradition that predates both.
"Defeat does not rest lightly on these shoulders" is what used to be in the Leaf's dressing room. Conn Smythe put it there. Ballard took it down, and no one has been able to put it back up.

It’s funny how Steve always seems to capture a Leafs fan particular mood and it’s dead on. I think every leafs fan this year has finally heard enough from everyone else and are just sick of it and sick of not making it each year and rewatching the same thing over again… except this year feels worse 😐
