Sorry DJ I usually defend you but you need to be harder on your players or something, no excuse to have good players like this that look worse than an AHL team..
he keeps just saying the same exact thing: "you need to close out games" "you need to play hard in all 3 periods" etc. But for the past few years he has not found a way for us to actually do that when with the roster we have they should, or at least not be playing how they have these past two games. So either all the players at this point just dont want to play hard, or something with the coaching just simply doesnt work.. considering how the players have shown their dedication and frustration, i doubt its the players. DJ barely changes his emotion in these, like if it was the team i was coaching that was playing like this, i would be furious in these interviews. I just want him gone at this point, he has shown he is not meant to be a head coach, and this team needs someone with the same drive as the players
Same voices calling for PDs head, buying summer of Pierre shirts. Fickle. Same way this channel used to get two comments last year, now all the fairweathers back.
#22 not having a bad game (3rd Goal) takes the man below the goal line, leaves his feet does not block the pass, cannot recover to help his out numbered defence group in front of the net. He gets paid way too much money to make a rookie move like that. That was the BIG GOAL of the night.
Wow, for people who think D.J. Smith is the problem, you were not watching the game at all. The refs were calling penalties against the SENS and not against Tampa Bay. 9 power plays for Tampa and 3 for Ottawa. We played the first two periods killing penalties mostly. Chabot gave up the puck again cost us and he was sloppy tonight. The team must play together better than they have been playing in the last 3 games. We need a top 4 D-Man soon if we want to change gears because if we do not get one, we are stuck playing Zaitsev throughout the season. It has to be done or sink so far down to another horrible mean less year. Remember we lost josh and that is a big hole to fill. I am optimistic hoping it will be resolved sooner rather than later. GO SENS GO!
Chabot has been the issue more than DJ, way too casual. Can't make a play at the blueline on the PP or end of the game. Would rather see Branny or Sandy there in his place for a bit.
In all the years of the Senators, only the Pizza incarnation could bring the puck up with control and cycle. The team looks lost most nights. Yes, they've shown promise but the transition game stinks, as does their cylcle game. That's coaching.

Chabot is awful with the puck…he needs to be way less passive. Not worth his price tag IMO
