Absolutely to Timo. I think if Reimer keeps doing well he can get more at the deadline.

  2. TherealKrakatao

Yes to Timo. No to Reimer. He can get more than a 2nd if he keeps playing well. Especially from Toronto.

  3. wisechild510541

Hell yes to Timo, no to Reims

  4. kingofthediamond

I’m also a devils fan. I would absolutely trade timo for yegor. The devils would probably not go for 2 first rounders though. Yegor is a solid 20+ goal scorer and a really great dude. The devils sub had their eyes on Timo this off season. Yegor also mentioned he wants to stay in NJ unfortunately. His English isn’t so good which leads to the cutest interviews.

Hmm im seeing folks thinking we can get more for Reims, but i feel historically the NHL really doesnt go to the bank on goalies.

Some noticeable goalie trades near the deadline…

    1. MAF was traded to Minny for a 2nd with heavy conditions to becoming a 1st.

    2. Robin Lehner netted Chicago a 2nd, a 4th round dman, and Malcom Subban.

    3. Jack Campbell netted LA 2 3rds and Trevor Moore (with conditions for one to be a 2nd).

So when i think of comparables MAF probably comes to mind although i think we could likely get more since MAF had heavy preferences on where to play and a slightly worse salary. So the insta trade propositional probably is fair. But even so trading good goalies at the deadline is rare so the prices dont seem crazy.

I guess best case scenario would be to hope for the Keumper level deal, which i believe could be negotiated, a 1st and connor timmins was the price. But not that first was conditional on him starting 50% of playoff games. And obviously that deal was done in the offseason.

Also id rather get a defense prosect, our d cupboard is worrying.

I almost had a heart attack lol

Not a bad hypothetical trade tho, even if I love Timo. We do need those picks

  7. 240Nordey

Timo for 2 firsts? Where do I sign?!

  8. Jaggs10

I’d want Holtz instead of Sharangovich if we really are trading Timo. Might as well have all the young kids on the same timeline. Of course that probably means only 1 1st but I’m fine with that.

  9. cautiouslyoptimistik

Didn’t Toronto bully and harass the shit out of Reimer and his wife when he was there? Can’t imagine he’d want to go back.

  10. hoogiv2shits

I’ve heard that Toronto doesn’t want to trade ANY picks at this point. I think if Reimer is going that way, then Sharks would be getting 2+ prospects.

That being said, I actually think Dubas will be hoping his current tandem will get them through the year. Both injured goalies are probably back by the New Year

If we trade Timo to the Devils Holtz (19 yo), Nemec (20 yo), or Luke Hughes (18) have to be part of the return. There’s no point in getting Sharangovich (24 yo) because he’s only two years younger and his upside isn’t close to Meier’s.

I genuinely think you just resign meier, we will have 14 million off the books next year and the cap is going to raise an estimated 3 million. Meier is 26, sign him to an 8 year deal and you still get 4-6 years of prime out of him, maybe even the full 8. Trading Meier says your competive window is outside 8 years.

The only two caveats to that is if Meier doesn’t want to stay or he wants more than 8.25 or 8.5 a year.

For Reimer get what you can. Love a 1st rounder as the return but I don’t think that’s terribly likely.

  12. Multiple firsts for Timo is a yes. For Reimer that’s not particularly exciting.

  13. xiRiSHxPLaYa

Edmonton might be a destination for Reimer. Their tandem won’t last for playoffs

  14. sharkMonstar

no we must protect reimer from toronto

  15. Swaggy_P_03

I’m biased and love Timo, so that’s a no for me. Getting a 2nd for Reimer is sweet. I’d prefer we find a way out of the EK65 contract, but that’s near impossible (although his offensive resurgence may help. Also he wants to play for a contender and we ain’t it)

  16. BAD_CAN77

    EK @ 50% retained for

    Sens 2023 1st (top 5 protected)

    Ridley Grieg

    Zaitsev

    Thoughts?

  17. mikeisaphreek

better not. just bought a timo sweater.

  18. WithThatMoonLanguage

they don’t really need to trade meier, particularly not if sharangovich is part of the return. he’s only 2 years younger than timo and has (in my opinion) already reached his ceiling. he’s a third line scorer who can maybe touch 50 points. if he’s in the top-6 it’s not a great sign for his team.

the firsts are nice, but the devils are doing very well and have a team that will likely improve going forward (they’re very young with potential), even more so if they add timo. so those firsts are likely to come somewhere in the 20-30 range, which really isn’t that valuable.

they would need to replace yegor and maybe a first with some of their (many) elite prospects. holtz, hughes, nemec, casey, or maybe gritsyuk. maybe dawson mercer.

even then, the sharks could simply extend timo, and he’s young enough that he could still be elite if/when the next wave of sharks arrives. i’m not sure sharks fans understand just how valuable timo is. dude is one of the most productive nhl’ers even when he’s not getting points.

  19. WithThatMoonLanguage

for reimer they should maybe avoid mediocre prospects. drop hirvonen if it means getting a first instead of a second.

they could also maybe hold reimer a little longer, let teams bid against each other to possibly raise his price, wait until teams are more desperate (maybe if a starter goes down with an injury), or if reimer continues to excel his price might increase as well.

  20. NaTeDoRt

I’m a Timo fanboy so I wouldn’t accept that. I’d do the Reimer trade tho

  21. SnooDoodles3108

No way would I trade Meier because he’s a good player who’s only going to get better in my opinion

  22. stalinmalone68

Only trade Timo if he asks. Which he might at some point.
