I’m not even a flames fan and I think that OT call was a bit weak.. especially how there was only one call all game… but that’s hockey!
Definitely agree that the game isn’t on the refs. Wouldn’t have gotten to that position if they didn’t completely collapse in the 3rd.
I wonder if the non-call on the Cizikas Markstrom play was a makeup for the missed highsticking on Romanov. I doubt the Andersson penalty would've been called anywhere else on the ice but Pelesh almost fell on top of the goalie. I think one of the problems with NHL officiating is they can only hire people who skate fast enough to keep up with the game and there are probably a lot of people with better game vision who just can't keep up. I personally think they should implement an eye in the sky ref.
Edit: When the Islanders forwards are playing well they look like a team with three 2nd lines and a third line, when they're playing poorly they look like a team with two third lines and two fourth lines. The top 4 dmen are good and Sorokin is amazing.
To be fair there wee some brutal non calls against both teams. There was a blatant high stick against the isles that wasn't called.
