The Devils are the biggest surprise to me so far, went from being a bottom feeder for years to a 10-3-0 start.

I agree, the Devils have been a pleasant surprise. Big fan of Jack Hughes for sure. But an even bigger surprise has to be the Jets. I still kind of doubt they will be able to keep it up but Hellebucyk is playing sooo well! If he keeps it up the Jets can stick around!

On the flip side (as a Flames fan) I am concerned. Not flipping tables or flat out mad because they have shown flashes of brilliance but madly inconsistent. Markstrom better get his poop in a group and soon!!!

Islanders and Jets are overachieving but knights and bruins are great teams, while NJ has been on a big upswing for a couple years now

In the pre season there was such a consensus and I just kept having this itching feeling that people were basing their predictions on the recent past much too heavily. I didn’t know what would happen but I felt pretty sure things would be more different from last year than people were predicting.

We had a shitty last season because of injuries, but was still very close to making the playoffs. If anyone didn’t expect us to right back at it this season (with a new coach, a healthy Eichel and so on), then that’s on you
