The trainer should stop handing out “stupid pills” to the players – especially the 3rd line players and several defensemen. The PK is a complete joke! … This team lost to one of the most injured and beat-up teams in the league – right before they play 3 powerful teams. … To use a word recently used by one of their goaltenders, “pathetic.”
Foegele didn't make or accept a pass successfully for a period and a half.

Bouch is a 6 that should be playing pp. Kulak is a 5/6. Ceci is a 3/4. Our D is weak, like really weak.

Holloway and McLeod were good, but the team can not rely on the youngest player to make a miracle happen.
The #27 PK made the #16 PP look good. Post-game, those rankings went to #30 and #6. One-eighth of the season done.
Oilers’ problems: the PK; JP and Yamo need to bury a couple; so does the bottom 6; defense can be better; Soup’s cold. In short, 2ndary offense, defense, goaltending and the PK. They’re getting outdone in too many different areas of the game. Even if they aren't far off in each area, if they’re not getting beat in one area, another does them in. A playoff team can afford to be a little sub-par in one or two areas, but not more. Final four teams need to be performing well in every area.
Don’t wanna jinx ‘em, but 5v5 is looking better this year.
Every dman we have, including Nurse, are playing one pairing above his true slot. There’s much more, but this is the number one issue. Chychrun trade required.
Great commentary fella's!…….I attended this game…. 3rd loss in a row…. Oilers defense is "the" albatross for this team… I'm reminded of the Dan Marino Dolphins and the Dan Fouts Chargers… these FB teams had to win games 41-38 b/c they couldn't stop a soul… and they certainly couldn't win a SB much less get to one…. The Oilers are that FB team in hockey…. the lapses on Oilers defense were abundant and a team desperate to stop a 4 game losing streak rose to the occasion and made Edmonton look like SWISS CHEESE…. Edmonton trailed 3-1 and 5-3 ~ the final score is deceiving. The Caps also had 3 or 4 pucks hit posts that appeared to be goals… so the Oilers were fortunate and still outclassed. The Oilers are a NOVICE operation defensively~ the miscues that kill them are elementary. I find myself perplexed that a team coached by Jay Woodcroft can be so unbuttoned and scattered. We need some cleaning up or we are easily going to take a beating in TB, Carolina and FL. Night in night out the Hero's on this team are forced to score 5 and 6 goals to win games….They are not winning a S.Cup in this environment.

Soup isn’t cold. It’s frozen right now. The Oilers r playing their backup more than their main and we’re only 13 games in. This season is a mess.
oilers are far too willing to oblige teams by staying on the perimeter and seem largely unwilling to drive to the hard areas right now
25 mill for frozen soup. 3mill each for JP and Yamo with no goals. Foegele is 2 mill above minimum w no goals. Everygame requires McD to turn into Clark Kent and deke 5 guys and steal games. What a clownshow.

Much better with the volume gents, you are both close to same volume. Staples still rattles the speakers occasionally. Journal should fork over for proper mics but, like when the oilers win, good effort.

The whole team is disconnected at every position. Forwards are not working together and with the Dman, D partners not in sync the entire team defence scheme that got them to the conf final is gone. This is the Oilers change the coach they perform well for about a season after that the leadership group decides they can play they want to and it goes sideways. Todd M had them playing well, Tipp had them playing well, JW has had them playing well. Each of these coaches have and had been let down by the team not playing the system consistently. World class team if they play within a system but a 32nd place team when they decide they know better. My last rant…when people are paying good money to see you play and paying 3x for food and beverages and you can't even do your job for 60 min with any kind of effort shame on you.
We give up our blue line too easily; no pressure on opponents’ zone entry. PK’s been a disaster. Offence without the big boys basically nonexistent. I really believe the coaching staff needs to step it up to fix these problems. Guys seem unsure of what their tasks are on the ice most of the time. This is a major difference between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames: discipline, structural execution.

Lots of guys having zero or negative impact on the game right now. The team is getting to stretched out imo hampering our ability to attack and defend cohesively, and also causing a ton of turnovers by forcing guys to try and complete a 30 to 60 foot pass. Did not like Woody's line combinations last night even though I understand what he's trying to do.
Hate to say it but I think we should have prioritized getting a true #1 D instead of signing both Hyman and nuge. Our team has enough scoring. Our D are absolute dogshit

Guess what David that's what top pairing D are supposed to do play a ton against the other teams top guys. We don't have a real top pairing and this is what you get. Bringing in a barely NHL quality D like Russell is not the answer at all.

I didn't think it was an entertaining game at all. The oilers just simply refuse to show up on time! It's getting really hard to keep cheering for them!!
We could sure use Ethan Bear right about now. We had better defense and better PK with him in the line up! Too bad they got rid of him because of one mistake!
