  1. How long can Sabres afford to play crappy like this especially at home when you are trying to win back fans. It’s sad to see this kind of effort especially since all the promise they were showing at the end of last season just hasn’t been present this November. I still think they can turn it around but they’ve dug themselves into a hole they are going to need a lot of leadership and guidance if they are going to have meaningful games down the stretch

  2. I felt like you did, Wayne, that we didn't deserve to come back and win this game. I read in the Buffalo News that Granato wanted a slowed down offense against Boston in an attempt to be more defensive against a potent Boston offense. That tells me that his offensive philosophy has been to win with speed and by scoring enough goals to overcome the goals he knows we'll surrender. That tells me that he has little interest in inculcating a physical presence among the Sabres. Every game during this losing streak, I hear Rob Ray during the broadcasts say how we've gotten off to a slow start, how we're standing around too much, and how we're making bad decisions. Well, Granato has to fix this now. Having a depleted defensive corps isn't enough of an excuse for the way we've been losing. Is Granato willing to sacrifice on the offensive end to tighten up the defense? To me, that's the only answer. It's time to win games by 3-2 rather than lose them by 6-5.

  3. Our youth & lack of experience is showing up of late. Speed is one thing but lack of strong physical play going to the messy areas is killing us. Our team defense is awful 😖

  4. Skinner, Tuch and Thompson were better much and their overall stats are quite good but it only hammers home how rough Skinner/Tuch have been the last couple games. You can't just show up once every 3-4 games if you want a winning team.

  5. I am the kids greatest supporter. But, they did little to win back an at home fan base. I was thinking if I had traveled up from Fort Worth to see this game, what positive could I have taken from it? I still feel they are right in what they are doing to build this team. Two years from now when we are Cup challengible, I suppose half the people on tonight's ice won't be. But we are developing Cozins, Tage, Dahls, Power, Peterka maybe Mitts, Olofsson, Quinn. We are filtering out the chaff my friends and developing the core. Two more years? Hell, I've been a fan for all 50. Why not?

  6. Question is does Adams sit back and let the team work their way out of this losing streak ? Or does Adams make a move to shake up the team and if so what will this move be ? Will it be a call up from Rochester, a waiver wire pick up, a trade , or dare i say it a coaching change ?

  7. Hi Wayne, one man's request here. I absolutely love your passion, honesty and video!

I don't watch the entire games, but I always watch the YouTube highlights. Thus, I would LOVE your comments on individual player's performance and efforts.

Is Krebs a good fit for the NHL now? In the highlights, he looks lie a disaster on defense.

If you briefly reviewed a bunch of the players I would love it!

    We miss Roam!

  8. They won't win another game playing like this. Everyone floating around with heads up their asses. Idk what Donny's plan is but this is on him also. Action speaks louder then words and I have plenty of words to describe this teams actions lol.

  9. We have two number one draft packs (first over all) on defense … if im wrong i'm sorry…. i'll just leave it there

maybe a video in the future… we've had great defenseman ???

  10. Granato insists on a press, press, press style of offense, which, in our case, leaves the goalie out to dry. We don't have the goaltending to sustain this style of play longer than a few (4or5) games. Among the many issues holding this team back, goaltending is right up there. Comrie is not the answer, and Anderson can't play every game…

  11. Sabres and Bills are both in a slump right now. A major winter storm event is gonna hit on the weekend. Not much going our way right now. Stay positive for as long as you can. Things can only get better from here, right ??

  12. When are we going to address the non hitting? Does the other team have a non contact jersey on? We need to improve on going into the corners and digging out pucks. Less standing around. I hope they are addressing those issues in Rochester!

  13. This was the first game all season Tage Thompson played 20 minutes.

The passing was atrocious, even Dahlin was passing the puck into guys skates all night long.

Zero hitting. Bryson now -11 by far the worst on the team

  14. Ok here we go, now Sabres fans are saying in comments Dahlin is trash, oh really? Dahlin is over a point per game, highest plus minus on the team by far, leads in blocked shots and second in hits, he has 7 goals in 15 games, how exactly his he a bust? Power was a plus 3 in this game, he’s 19 years old, these two D men are not the problem. And I’m sure you guys think Buffalo Bills should release Josh Allen lol

  15. The good news is Mittelstadt now has 1 even strength goal and 1 even assist on the season! Woot! At least he didn’t play 21 minutes and Tage only 17 like game before this one.

  16. The Sabre's brass is still evaluating what/who they have, and who fits in, down the road, when our goalie prospects are ready to contribute. Bottom line…Management is not overly concerned with winning now.

  17. It’s frustrating how Granato keeps talking about learning from mistakes and getting better, and we’re just not seeing it. The team defense is god awful. We’re seeing repeated mistakes. It just doesn’t look like they are getting it.

The forwards on lines 2, 3, 4 keep getting trapped on the boards and can’t make any plays. Cozens is the only one that tries to. The offense will suffer until they learn how to attack the net.

  18. 2nd PP unit is trash. Looks like they have no creativity and Krebs and mittlestatd look lost on the PP.

  19. Pilut and Krebs are on the struggle bus albeit Krebs woke up for one play to help set up the Mitts goal.

They showed there age that game.

On a positive note, it’s unreal seeing Power and Dahlin together.

  20. Didn't match their speed out of the gate. Hopefully we can see that and learn how to lock a game up in terms of teams momentum when we see they have more energy than us. Transition to our game after we shut them down enough.

  21. The offense is looking good, but man does Buffalo need to work on team defense and especially the PK, it's been abysmal… And they do not have a goalie like Vasilevsky/Shesterkin to bail us out.

  22. Thank you for improving my miserable mood with your line on Lyubushkin penalties: "It's like he brought that Toronto Maple Leaf aura with him."

  23. They lost to one of the worst teams playing their backup goalie at home….Team defense should be on the coach…he is not coaching US Developement team…easy to blame the goalie…

  24. Tage will be the #1 target for opposing teams…teams will start to focus on him more and more….

  25. SOOO MANY TURNOVERS, we didn't look like the same team this game as we did the first five. The "bad passing bug" bit alot of our forwards we depend on for our offense/spark, we just look so slow even on the powerplay we just looked lackadaisical on offense and defense. They let them crash the middle of the slot wide open on more than 5 occasions that game to only get bailed out by Anderson. Hopefully it's just a shallow dive to rebound back up on the road trip.

  26. Living with a Canucks fan makes this harder to bear. (She'll milk this for weeks) but she hit the nail on the head when she said "You guys gotta clear the net." Doesn't matter if you're starting Anderson, Comrie or 1998 Hasek you cannot surrender the slot so easily. If teams like Vancouver can kill you there no wonder Boston and Vegas owned the Sabres recently. That young defence really needs some veteran grit to settle them. Otherwise they'd better learn to outscore opponents like the 80's Oilers. 😕

  27. Only problems right now are with the passing, checking, shooting, decision making, and lack of toughness. All they have to do is improve drastically in these areas and maybe they'll win a game again someday. At least they didn't allow Vancouver an empty netter, that's a positive right? First time that happened in about 4 games!

  28. Wayne, I really like your updates but I'm going to have to take a break from anything Sabres. I am afraid it feels like rinse and repeat.

  29. This year is a "stepping stone" and I don't think it's time to panic, but Adams needs to bring in a defenceman at this point. Samuelsson is our only stay-at-home shutdown Dman and the kid hasn't even played 60 games at the NHL level yet. Even after he gets back from injury that's still a D squad made up of kids who all (but Sam) play an offensive style game and try to pressure up the ice. We've got more than enough forwards in our prospect pool, it's time to package a kid and an NHL level forward (or Joki) for a veteran shutdown defenceman. Dahlin plays great with Samuelsson because it gives him the ability to play his game and not worry so much about getting beat back. We need that same thing for Power. Give the kid a vet to learn from, and give the team some stability and a leader on the backend. The oddman rushes and opposing team high danger chances are absolutely killing us so far this season. Saying this team needs D help is an understatement at this point.

  30. I hope we can move away from some of the younger guys who are 22-24 that haven’t produced. Guys like mittelstadt asplund and Bryson. Bring in some bigger guys who can complement the the other young guys who have more skill. Even a guy like olofsson we could move on from. The question we should be asking about some of these players is are they players who can help us win a Stanley cup? Do we need asplund who just skates around all game and doesn’t touch anyone and doesn’t score goals? Or Bryson a small third pairing defensemen? Olofsson can score 20 goals maybe 30 but he doesn’t do anything else. There are other guys who need to be better but some of these players are just not not what we need to win a cup.
