Saw that coming as soon as Sam started talking about the shutouts last year. On the bright side that was by far the best game of the season for both Trouba and Miller, hope they can keep it up
Greasy win , almost blew it. But a win is a win.
I don’t understand why everyone was hating on Trouba as if Lindgren didn’t follow Meier completely around the net while nobody covered low on his side?
Regardless, another game of torture, but at least they won.
“Good thing we only play 59 minutes and 45 seconds right guys? …guys? “ – the defense there lol.
Almost had a heart attack on that last chance there
Epic
Gallant lives to see another day. We move.
Our most consistent effort since arguably Tampa. Glad we didn’t rest on our laurels but man the recurring theme of (a lack of) finishing is really just weighing us down. Feels like there’s not much confidence shooting wise on this team.
Like what I saw from Jones and Trouba tonight. Gauthier with more goals than Blais (🥱) and the kid line needs to be broken up, again. Other than that, 2 points and let’s finish the road trip 3-1.
honestly my stoke on the W was lowkey killed with how we played once we were up 2. no wonder we lose so many close games if that’s how we play once we have a lead. coasting along is not the move, and we’re just lucky they didn’t have time to score two. absolute garbage with how badly we just tuned out.
edit: downvote me if you want, but this is how all of our OTLs happened, and if we keep tuning out with a late lead we won’t go as far as last year that’s for sure
Positives:
2 Points.
They played a full 60 with structure
Panarin stepped up, and it was noticeable despite not getting on the score sheet. He was forechecking, backchecking, and was in the mix all night.
That was probably the most complete game they played all season.
Negatives
« IS THAT A REGULATION GOAL OR WHAT?! » For real though, hit the damn net.
PP edged but couldn’t finish
Too much passing, as comically demonstrates on the ENG
Vallys reassurance always makes me feel better at least
your new york rangers: hockey game winners
Our 4 best players tonight by Game Score:
Trouba
Miller
Fox
Gautier
Good defensive effort. Frustrating offensive one
was almost another DQ tactical genius moment
Didn’t want to jinx anything during the game but that third period was a defensive clinic (except for when they temporarily lost their minds in the final minute).
Despite everything, the Rangers have the 3rd best record in the Metro and are only 1 point behind the 2nd best record in the Metro despite having shit puck luck.
This team will be fine.
“It’s a big two points” ~Turk probably
God the defense is fucking terrible
That was literally the closest I’ve ever seen a DQ coached team get to tying up a game with the extra skater ever lol
Gonna shout out Vesey – he had some really nice plays tonight.
Also, while I felt he was somewhat better tonight, anyone else here feel like Trouba is being more gassed up by Sam and Joe more than usual? Just feels a bit off when he’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing: defending.
I thought that was a good game by NYR outside of the last 30 seconds. I’m happy no periods were taken off. I feel like if we play all games like this we win more than we lose.
Missed a $200 parlay with no FILDA goal, but I’m happy for the win!
A win is a win but damn i am not satisfied after that game, play better
Only bright side of this game is that Guch scored. Love seeing him on the board
Every single player is absolutely atrocious at shooting except for Fox. I honestly believe there is no way we score on that empty net if he’s not the one shooting there.
Thank Christ Igor made that save with 4 seconds left that was insane, a wins a win I guess
Trouba is my new Hajek
Man Laffy has been entirely unnoticeable. Kid needs to grow his beard back or something.
Now I’m sleepy and kinda sad
Your three stars of the game:
* Igor Shesterkin
* James Reimer
* Julien FUCKIN’ Gaulthier
Your Rangers moments of the game:
* A billion shots on goal, and only two go in
* One of those is an ENG that ONLY went in because FOX decided to be a greedy dick and shoot it himself
* Seriously, HOW MANY PASSES before someone shoots the ENG???
* And of course, fucking up Igor’s shutout because No Quit In NY means 59 minutes and 20 seconds of hockey.
There is *zero* reason to be penisy tonight. Boys need that monologue Joe Micheletti had about just ***BURYING IT*** drilled into their heads. I get Kreider wants Vesey to get a goal and feel good and all that but sometimes you gotta just net the damn puck!!!
But… pissing and moaning about a win aside… fuck this team gives me goosebumps for all the wrong reasons sometimes, and I’m glad they gave a shit tonight and pulled out the win. Worth the late night stay up. And thank God for Fox being a greedy bastard with that goal (and getting me a goal in Fantasy).
A really strong effort, but can’t believe they gave up the middle of ice with a one goal lead and 15 seconds left. Inexcusable…that was Shesty’s biggest save of the season to save the team.
So happy for Gauthier these past couple of games. Barely playing but getting the job done drawing penalties and now that huge go ahead goal. Deserves more mins but as a 4th liner, he’s been a heck of a difference maker.
Hey Drury, can we pretty please move Blais at the deadline?
For your own mental sanity ignore the doomers…great 1st, great 2nd, great 3rd. Offense was on fire throughout the whole thing and defense did it’s job well excluding the last 20 or so seconds. Having patience through a scoreless 1st and 2nd certainly helped them keep their energy going into the third.
Wow so Gauthier draws *another* penalty (drawing them at the same rate he did last year, which was best on the team), played well again, and scored another goal
As the lead #GauthierIsGood guy I am shocked I tell you
Remember when he was on waivers? Lol
I know some here won’t want to hear this, but this was progress. That was a solid defensive game, but those short lapses in focus could sink us this season.
Pros: we beat David Quinn
Cons: “*how much time do you have?*”
Ranking our dmen in terms of their ability to move the puck:
Adam Fox
7 layers of shit
The corpse of Dan Boyle
Everyone else
Besides the last 15 seconds of the game, thought they played well. Definitely trouba-Miller’s best game all season IMO
Man, this team makes me mad even when they win lmao. So close to getting Igor the shutout and they fell asleep at the wheel! Still happy to get the two points though. I was hoping to walk away from this west coast road trip with at least 5-6 points out of 8, and so far so good! Onto LA! 💪😤
Always been a fan, but thought Joe’s analysis was really spot on and fantastic all game.
It’s pretty concerning that we dominated the entire game and only scored 1 non empty net goal. Also truly classic of us to get ahead and then completely stop playing, leaving it to our goaltender to clutch the win.
On a side note, SAP Center is really cool, it was a great game to attend and I look forward to going again next year!
Defense was pretty good for all but 10 seconds, so that was cool
The W is great too
It’s nights like this Im just thankful Adam Fox was raised a Rangers fan

Hey I’m at least happy they got a win. Wasn’t a great looking one, but it was one.
There’s no justification for Reaves being on the roster anymore. He’s the 16th best forward on the team behind the 12 that were in the lineup, Kravtsov, Brodzinski, and Rydahl. You can’t really trade him so your options are
A: Send him down(frees some cap space and I doubt he gets claimed)
B: Let him sit on the bench and have no deadline cap space
C: Let him sit on the bench and send someone else down for deadline cap space(if they choose this option it’s probably Kravtsov)
D: Play him sometimes despite him being the worst forward in the league
The correct choice is A. Unfortunately this team will likely go with D or maybe even C
