This is his shot. Malgin has been great on the fourth line. Robertson has to be at least as good.
With Rielly out and Brodie looking like he’ll be out longer and Knies looking more and more like the best forward prospect we have outside the NHL I really see Robertson as bait for a D at this point.

I’ve really liked the Malgin Kampf ZAR line, they’ve been playing well and I don’t see why Malgin needs to be the odd man out when he is playing well above his weight class. I want Robertson to play, but I’d rather Engvall or Kerfoot or Holmberg come out for him, as none of those guys really have anything going right now.

It looks like Nick Robertson will be rejoining the Leafs’ lineup — taking the place of Denis Malgin.
Robertson appears pegged for a spot in the top six, with Alex Kerfoot sliding down the lineup.
Malgin should not be the guy coming out. If anything he deserves an extended look in the top 6 in place of Kerfoot. He is driving offence in limited minutes with Kampf & Aston-Reese as linemates.

Malgin is lived on here but he has made mistakes that have turned into goals/big chances every game.

Malgin has been great. Maybe they just don’t want Robertson sitting out for too long, and want to keep him fresh. It’s a good opportunity for him.

Malgins looked very good but as he’s gained confidence and got a little bolder he’s a little bit giveaway prone. And robertson is worth another look so I don’t hate this.
