  1. My dad, one of the Hab’s greatest fans ever, I thought was going to have a heart attack during this game

  2. The most amazing thing about this footage? Every single man in the audience is wearing a suit and tie

  3. This cost the Boston Bruins the 1979 Stanley Cup.

Had there not been too many men on the ice, or if it wasn't called, Boston would have won this game and likely would have blown out the New York Rangers in the finals.

And if Boston had won, Don "Grapes" Cherry probably would have remained head coach for at least a couple of more years.

  4. The excitement is in the moment shared by fans, who nowadays are mere trained seals who willingly attend in the new way to end these expressive freedoms forever.

  5. Wasn't it Marcotte? I remember the game, but as a Leafs fan I had no dog in the fight. Was sure Montreal was done before that call. That's sports. That's life.

  6. B's fan here, I can still vividly remember the brutal turn of events from 43 years ago like it was yesterday. This is the first time, though, that I ever really noticed the 6 men on the ice. It was clear as day in this clip. God effin' damnmit, how does that happen at that time ?

  7. Danny Gallivan has to be the best play by play announcers ever. Terms like.."gingerly over the line". I remember Saturday night hockey. Montreal Canadians vs Toronto Maple Leafs, no one went out, we were all glued to the TV.

  8. The straw that broke the camel’s back on Don Cherry’s coaching career in Boston.

  9. I'm from Buffalo so Boston and the Hab's are our rivals, but I have to admit theres something special about watching the original 6 battle it out in classic games. I know that games post expansion but still cool

  10. That was a perfect shot, right near the ice on the far side, perfect. And he only did a half wind-up.
Lafleur was a special hockey player.
