fuck toronto & fuck the refs
Unfortunately thanksgiving prep had me listening to this one on my phone in the kitchen. 3 disallowed is just bonkers. I didn’t see the Haula one, but the Bastian one was 100% a goal. On top of that, Murray gets just bombarded and of course pushes the goalposts off to the point they need to be repaired, but no delay of game call even though we’ve seen goalies do that to the devils all season to get a relief from pressure and a line change. Oh and the red was from Toronto 🙂
This game was against the refs. It’s bullshit, but it is what it is.
On the plus side, if that’s how we lose games, god damn. Obviously we’d lose eventually, but how insane is it the way they fought back on this one. Really excited for the rest of the season, and especially Friday. This team’s going to be *pissed*.
All these holier than thou mutants can suck an egg through a straw
I am untethered and my rage knows no bounds
Was in and out running errands so I had to listen to half the game on radio, and can I say how much of a pleasure it is to listen to Chico again on color commentary? Grew up listening to him and Doc obviously so it takes me back to simpler times, and his enthusiasm and earnest fandom makes it feel like your just watching the game with an old friend.
As for the game itself, 3 disallowed goals is nuts and I told my wife as they were starting to review the 3rd one that if they ruled it no goal fans would definitely start throwing stuff on the ice. I can’t think of any fanbase that would keep cool under that type of situation for better or worse.
But let’s see how the team responds to this loss now facing a Sabres squad that just put up 13 goals in a back to back pair of games.
The self righteousness from Toronto fans is really something lol

I’ve been watching hockey for close to 25 years and never seen 3 goals overturned in a game. That combined with fans in the arena not having the benefit of all the replays definitely and it being a rowdy night didn’t help things.
Haula saying he almost got hit with a chicken finger for some reason is hilarious to me
Yesterday was a bad day for sports betters that just bet on the “expected” outcomes. Devils, Boston, Carolina, Rangers, Blues, Oilers, and Avalanche all lost when they were the projected winners.
The first killed us, VTec killer game and Murray too, guys fought to the last second which was great and man if we had to end the win streak what a why to end it, love to see passion back in the players and fans, maybe a little too much at one point
My ass feels sore after last night.
An awful way for the streak to end. If we get beat so be it but to lose like that… ouch
I was at the Rock last night (obligatory I didn’t throw anything). Here are my unorganized thoughts
I won’t speak on the specific actions of the 100 fans that acted the way they did, as that’s been beaten to death already.
But what I will speak on is how every person in every thread about the game took it upon themselves to be a boy scout and felt obligated to let everyone else know that we’re classless and that « If I were at that game I would never do that/my teams fans would never do that ». Those comments made me absolutely nauseated, like wow thank you for having the need let us know that you agreed with 99.5% of the fans that didn’t throw things. Thank you for letting us know that you’re greatest accomplishment is being a baseline human being with at least average intelligence. that’s you’re claim to fame? You’re proud and beating your chest, and high fiving other people in the threads over the fact that you can come to a conclusion that most children could?
Anyone who has ever been at a game/social event with high emotions and alcohol could have seen that coming. It doesn’t make it right, it doesn’t make it fair, it doesn’t make it ok. But everyone saw that coming who was at the game. But what pisses me off is that of course Leafs and other fans bases ran with it and used it to paint a picture of our state and people, or that if faced in the exact same situation they would not have had a few people do the same thing. It’s easy to have a holier than thou mentality in a situation like this And everyone took the easy mob mentality and joined in while the karma was good
I’m sure these same people act in ways they normally wouldn’t sober when they’re drunk, obviously. While it may not stem to throwing beers on the ice, the addition of alcohol and emotional probably guided these people into acting was they were not proud of. But because it wasn’t as public of event, they can sit on their throne and throw judgement however they seem fit. I’m not saying it isn’t warranted, but nobody cares at the end of the day
I guess my biggest gripe is the self righteous, pretentious ego that was palpable in those threads over being able to color inside the circle and these people think they deserve gold stickers for that???
At the Rock, we got almost no replays, no explanation, and no justification for any of the non calls. To us, maybe just the 2nd goal called was a good no goal. The other ones we felt cheated. A variable non existent to those watching at home, so the fans of other teams dumping on us for « being unintelligent and dumb » because of the angles and replays that showed them being no goals…WE DIDNT SEE THOSE ANGLES
I’m sure there’s individuals reading this without reading comprehension that are thinking to themselves « Is he really chirping the people who are outstanding citizens and and denouncing throwing things on the ice? ». No, you clown. I’m saying it’s not as impressive as they think to have reached that conclusion as they think. Do I throw a party Everytime I don’t trip on my own shoelaces? It’s not that hard to not throw things but people are acting like they’re friggin Monarchs who Deserve to be fed grapes and fanned for posting about how they wouldn’t throw things. Pretentiousness and ego. Unbelievable
Someone get me a ref to waive off this hangover
Overturned goals aside, we need to convert on the Power Play. Can’t be given all of those opportunities and fail to convert. If we get one, it’s a tie game
I feel like we’re just so incredibly cursed. Whether it’s called back goals, bad bounces, injuries or whatever. At least we’re finally fucking good
Reffing aside, the devils have been coming out flat in the first for a while and it was only a matter of time before it burned them. Those two goals were complete gifts, especially the second one. And looking at the Leafs defence, I doubt they even make playoffs tbh. They have arguably the worst defence group in the league.
After a night’s rest I’m surprisingly not so disappointed about last night. It took getting getting 3 goals getting disallowed and Murray playing the game of his life to beat our team. They couldn’t hang with our club Otherwise. Brenden Smith said it perfectly in the post-game that the streak was nice but not the end goal. I’m a believer this team while maybe inexperienced has a chance to go far.
Team played great once they woke up after the first. Don’t like fans throwing stuff on the ice, but heat of the moment with all the scenarios factored in, I get it. Some people are overly precious about it too, though. I’ve been watching this team for 28 years and nothing like that has ever happened before, so spare us the “typical Jersey” horseshit.
Tomorrows effort is a bigger storyline for this team now. Get ‘em.
