  1. That's not how a contract dispute would work at all. If Kane wins, he would be a free agent with the Sharks owing him the value of his contract LESS the value of whatever contract he signs. It's worst possible outcome for the Sharks since he would be free to sign a minimum dollar contract with any team he prefers and the sharks would be hit for 6 million. Contract law never forces re-employment, it simply corrects the financial fallout.

  2. Huh… I wonder if you looked at Friedman's bank account, if you'd find a rather sizable deposit from the Colorado Avalanche after he started that rumor.

  3. As a Sharks fan, I hope he does well and stays with Edmonton. San Jose Sharks should be admonished with how this was handled, because it was wholly unprofessional. I just wanted to see this play out in court. California custody law usually favors the mother, and every other allegation never panned out. That should say something about what transpired, and I just think none of it would have played out like this had GM Doug Wilson not been out of commission. I hope Edmonton wins it all and keeps Kane. I'm ashamed at how the San Jose fan base has reacted to this. Our role as fans is to appreciate what is one ice, and reserving judgment on any player's personal life because we are privvy to so little of it. On that count, Kane always brought his best to the Sharks. Good luck, Edmonton and their fans. We are divisional rivals, but I am rooting for you.

  4. It used to be innocent until proven guilty. Now it’s guilty if someone posts on Twitter. Awful societal trend that I hope stops soon. Kane is no angel but neither are most professional athletes. I’d hate to see what happens on some of those road trips.

  5. I normally don't mind Friedman but the dude makes some of the most wack takes i've heard.

  6. After everything that happened in San Jose why would he go back especially the management? What?

  7. As long as Elliott does not bring up the Toronto Maple Leafs I will not bring up the lovely meal I have just finished eating. Thank you Elliot, you are are so kind and thoughtful.

  8. Kane would be a fantastic fit playing with Stutzle in Ottawa, and give them 2 damn good lines, and the sens have the cap space. But with his character, no way I'd go long term

  9. As a Sharks fan, I really don’t want Evander Kane on my team. Even though he has changed, I just don’t want him.

  10. You started a rumour.

The Guy is still playing for Oilers. 🇨🇦

Bringing the cup back to Canadiens would be so sweet. 👍👍🏾👍🏿

  11. Not a chance in hell kane would ever go back to the sharks literally makes absolutely no sence in so many ways

  12. Yes Kane had some problems with the Sharks, that’s been turned into something great for Himself and Edmonton. San Jose is NOT a nice place to live. I left smoke when I left

  13. Like he would go back there after all the bullsh!t. New start in New country he and his family doing fine we love him here in Edmonton

  14. As an Oilers fan I'd rather the Sharks dish out some compensation money instead of reclaiming him from Edmonton. Then Kane can sign with Edm for less and it'll be a win-win for everyone

  15. I think Kane wants his money from the deal he signed with sharks and he wants a new deal as a UFA I am sure that is what his representatives are working on I am sure the law in CA isn’t going to favor the Sharks on this one at all

  16. I’d love it, win win for both sides. Sharks retain salary and he could fetch so much in a trade. Trade him back to Edmonton and get a fair return for him

  17. I was all for signing Kane. Mcdavid needs players someone like Kane on his wing he’s elevated his game as we’ll mcdavid game go oil.

  18. it's amazing the people who comment and didnt listen to the contract and what happens to kane if reinstated. ya'll just talk like its important and know nothing😂

  19. Terminate means terminate San Jose not gonna reinstate i here what your saying but they don' want to deal with him lego he will sign as a canuck when they trade miller, brock andvmeyers

  20. Kane has found a perfect center to play with for the rest of his career. It would be so dumb to go to San Jose or anywhere else.

  21. I don't this is how this would work if kane ends up winning this. It would make absolutely no sense that a team that broke the contract rules would get rewarded. He also signed a contract with another team so I doubt he would go back to playing on an old contract. He likely receives the money and the sharks have to eat the cap space.

  22. It'll never happen. Several guys on that team, said they wanted to be traded and or bought out, if Kane was kept. Hence why they moved him. Reacquiring him, will create tremendous chaos.

  23. Elliotte Friedman has been absolutely offside with so much stuff he talks about. Don't listen to his takes. He's so biased lol Bieksa has been the most reliable analyst and I hate that guy haha

  24. I highly doubt the NHLPA would allow any contract being reinstated. Trust me the legal process would shut this down

  25. I don’t get how a an organization could just drop a players contract then decide to try to reinstate it like I don’t get this move at all.

  26. ya why would sharks want him back thats not happening now if sharks lose the grievance in court tho they will owe evander and have 7mill cap hit count for 4 more yrs but he will still be a ufa

  27. Why would he ever want to play for any other team. No body has a Conner McDavid. He might have warts but he’s not stupid.

  28. Sharks and Oilers are my two favourite teams. Sharks I’ve loved since I was young and Oilers are my home town team. If Kane was gonna go anywhere I’m glad he went to Edmonton. But I think he should stay in Edmonton. Sharks screwed their team over so much so I’d like to see him progress with the Oilers

  29. Wrongful termination of a contract doesn't necessarily lead to the contract's reinstatement. SJ may actually be SOL with no rights to Kane and having to pay damages.

  30. The Sharks don't deserve Evander Kane. The Oilers took him when no one else wanted him. The sharks can go pound dirt. Evander Cain is a really nice guy and a fantastic hockey player. Everybody screws up in their life, everybody deserves a second chance.
