  1. The Pegula's have failed the players and Sabres fans with their shotty decision making. They have unrealistic expectations for winning. They need to hire people who have experience and know what they are doing in the Front Office…and, let them run things. Quit with the Loyalty/Friends and Family hiring!!

  2. Maybe jeff skinner would wave his nmc to go to Seattle, instead of staying with a shitty Buffalo team.

  3. Glad that Staal got traded. He has more talent than that whole team combined. He deserves to go to Montreal.

  4. On paper, the Sabres aren't as bad as they are playing. Not a playoff team, but you would expect way better. I wonder how much the lockdowns have affected the team's ability's to bond as a group? Normally, in other years, a team on a losing skid, might try some things off ice to get everyone on the same page. Like they have a few days off in Vegas or LA, and they get to party and golf, and blow some steam off. That might help burn through some frustrations. But this year, they just lose, and go back to their hotel rooms by themselves and watch the world burn on TV. I think the Sabres need a couple of good team guys in the room. Guys that can keep it light and keep the bench laughing. Its over, so go have some fun. The only thing you can salvage now is your reputations. Even if you want out of Buffalo (looking at you Hall) its better to be the guy who was doing everything he could to win, regardless of circumstance, than the guy who dragged his sorry ass over the finish line (still looking at you Hall).

  5. We already had Derek Grant and he put up like 3 points in 40 games. There’s something in the water with this franchise

  6. It’s funny that Steve brings up Derek Grant, as he started his career, you guessed it, in Buffalo

  7. Sabres were .500 prior to COVID pause, came back and everyone got hurt…EVERYONE! Start 1C Eichel, Top D-Man McCabe, BOTH GOALIES, top defensive forward Girgensens, Dahlin’s D partner Borgen, top PK player Reider, and top young forward in Cozens. And Ristolainen nearly dies of COVID after he was having his best year of his career. You can say there aren’t excuses, and maybe they’re not a playoff team with all those guys healthy. But you certainly can’t say that all of this hasn’t had a massive effect.

  9. I think the Sabres are at a point where the owner needs to retool from top to bottom. Fire GM & scouts, trade literally everything with high return potential and start from scratch. The only losers in this scenario are the fans who will have to live through another 5-10 years of rebuilding a broken organization. I empathize with them.

  10. Never worked in a front office of an NHL team…but I feel like I could run the franchise better. Not only does Skinner have a NMC, he has it throughout the entire contract! That's terrible.

  11. How to fix it… 1. get a pres of hockey ops… someone who knows the game with a track record… 2. Hire a front office… I think Kevin Adams can be good.. but he needs help… get him some assistants and a quality scouting staff… 3. You have to hire a knowledgeable coaching staff… This team has some decent players… but it's clear that 1-3 is where the real problems are… I'm hearing stories out of friends I still have back there that Kreuger and Co. would not have made good coaches at the Peewee levels.. you literally could have hired Melody Martin to coach and she WOULD have done much better…. it was said that they practiced failure… where most teams practice success…

  12. At this point, any person with any….I mean Any! Managerial experience ( this includes being a manager at Safeway, wal mart etc..) would run the buffalo and get the same result..
Might as well save the money if you are going to be this ineffective, pathetic, inept and clueless. Bloody hell, I could run the Buffalo Sabres as of today. I would do a terrible job, I am sure but the owners would not have to pay me millions..
Saying all this.. it's not based on animosity or resentment towards Buffalo..
I have 5 teams I love and follow and Buffalo is my #5.
I am not saying this out of spite.

  13. Quebec City is only a short jaunt from Buffalo. The moving truck rentals would be cheap.

  14. The Sabres need a new owner, a new gm, scouts, better defense and offense. Better contracts. The list goes on. Dahlin talked about panic attacks on ice, but there's obviously one going on behind the scenes as well in Buffalo. This is more than just a team issue, this issue stems from ownership to management all the way to coaching and how the players are performing. They can't buy a win right now, self doubt living rent free in their heads. This is evident when they blow a 3-0 lead after losing 17 straight.

  15. All the delusional Sabres fans actually thought siging Hall would bring them from the bottom to the top. And Hall looks like the biggest moron in the world for wanting to sign with a contender then lands on the worst team in decades.

  16. I would take a hard look at Colorado and how bad they were a few years back. Bounced back the next year and are now perennial powerhouses

  17. If the mindset is that we're going to lose Holl in the expansion draft, why not just trade with Anaheim for Shattenkirk?

  18. Seattle is probably already a better team than Buffalo and they don't have any players yet, just predictions of what will be available.

  19. I bet the can fix it anything can be fixed only thing that can’t be is a stubborn ownership who does t want to sell the team

  20. Steve: After this year whos on the Sabres?
After this year who’d wanna play for the Sabres?

  21. Buffalo need made-men level leadership brought in. Then let THEM clean house. Like the Leafs did with Shanahan – Lamouriello. Toronto obviously hasn’t reached their full potential but there is no doubt this organization is completely different than the one we saw for most of the 2000’s

  22. We have no assistant GM, we have no scouting department, we're wasting our star players year after year. There is no hope. Thank God for alcohol.

  23. The firing of scouts tells me that Terry Pagula maybe doesn't have the deep pockets people think he does. His fortune is valued at around 5 billion– according to a quick google. His actions with the Sabers tend to point otherwise. Unless he's the type of businessperson that believes every separate holding has to carry it's own weight, meaning he's not going to shovel money from outside the Saber revenue stream to prop it up. The only way out, that I see, is for a very deep pocketed hobbyist who doesn't care too much about Return on Investment to buy the team, and start a rebuild on the management supports for the franchise, which includes scouts but is certainly not limited to that. And while that's being done, what the team is on the ice is what the team is for a couple of seasons. About the only thing the Sabers have going for them right now is they aren't really carrying that much dead salary, particularly when the retention on Staal comes off at the end of the season. So I wouldn't buy out Skinner, or make a move where I'd retain salary, which means make it work the best you can. Other major pieces, maybe with the right skills development, Dahlin can be salvaged. I think I'd talk to Eichel, show him the efforts made to make it into a professional management team, and see what he wants to do. I think you'd have takers for Eichel even at 10 mil, and get a decent return.

  24. Be concerned about the one and done leafs and stop worrying about everyone else because even though they suck! You still arent winning ANYTHING!!!

  25. The thing about the Sabres though is that probably by this point no one expects them to ever be good. I myself am 39yrs old. I’ve watched hockey since I was ten. 29 yrs straight and the only time the Sabres weren’t basement dwellers is when they had Hasek. Unfortunately they are just one of those teams that can’t seem to get anywhere.

  26. Hey guys I miss the Glory Days I miss the Glory Days of the Buffalo Sabres of the pat LaFontaine Alexander mogilny the Rob Brad May dominik Hasek,Ryan Miller Danny Briere Chris Drury Danny Gare The French Connection we had some great players on the Buffalo Sabres back in the day damn those were the Glory Days

  27. Who is going to want to resign there? How do they convince anyone to resign? They need a president of hockey operations, or whatever, to right the ship. Some hard-nosed authoritarian who'll do this all over like an expansion team or something.

  28. The pegulas are so wrapped up in the bills that they don’t want to spend more money on the Sabres

  29. Realistically, in covid Era, a guy like hall on last year of his contract means you can try to resign him to a covid friendly contract rather than have to eat say… 3 years at 6 or 7

May increase trade value compared to Ufa guys of previous years

  30. Steve I love everything you do for hockey. Your candor and your excitement. I love that you're objective and cover everyone with hockey sense and passion. All while sharing your own pain as a Leafs fan. I love your trade tree videos. Id like to see you, Adam & Jesse come up with a video series that stops saying these guys suck and actually laid out what your plan would be to fix a team like Buffalo. A breakdown not just "they suck" "they are a blank slate" "idk". 5 min in Adam started to do this and you followed up well but Id like to see you take it a step further and lay out what you would do as a Owner, PofHockey Ops etc. I think this would be a good series as there are always opportunities with 5 or 6 teams a year not just The Sabres. 10:30 into this video it almost happened again but it was more incredulous thoughts than actual direction. It might be an exercise in futility because Lord knows the Pegulas or any other owner you may cover isnt listening but I find the insights fascinating. Also, I like when Jesse speaks up I think he could contribute more.
As a Sabre fan my whole life Thank you for being respectful while being real!Dangits, Hatpicks, Trade Trees Leaf Rants Ilove it! Keep it up

  31. To be honest, I think everyone is overreacting to Buffalo's situation. Yes they are sucking really bad this year but think about it. People forget that Buffalo started off pretty decent. Then they got ravaged by covid19…I don't think they ever recovered from it. Then they lose Eichel to injury and the losing streak begins. Lastly, it's these stupid covid year divisions. The fact that you play the same teams over and over again means that if the teams in your division are better than you, you don't ever get to play other teams you could beat. You just keep playing against the same teams that are already better than you so of course you'd keep losing. If it were a normal nhl year, they'd be able to play games against Ottawa, Detroit, Anaheim, etc and at least have several chances to win more.

They could certainly turn it around quickly considering they have good pieces in place: Eichel, Reinhart, Dahlin, Lazar, Cozens, Olofsson, Mittelstadt, Montour, Ullmark……with a few trades and acquisitions, they could definitely be back to at least a 500 team. I think they need changes in their management systems more than anything. Scouting, player development, coaching, GM….the players are quality players but they need to be coached well, and have good support around them. It's not like these 23 players on the roster are all fake nhlers who really don't have the talent to be in the NHL and somehow fooled everyone into getting into the NHL. They are quality players. Everything is just not.

  32. Nice channel, looking forward to more uploads! You deserve more subs, I think you should use Promosm to promote your videos.
