You got that right. One of the major reasons we lost this one. Give Vladar the reins for a while and let Markstrom earn it back with one or 2 undeniably strong starts as backup, I think that’s fair

Sorry, my sympathy runs limited for someone who makes more in 1 game than most fans do in a year sulking about « his sucking ». If he has some mental health issue I have no problem if he steps aside for himself, but right now he’s a detriment to the product and its getting tiring.
At least hes taken some accountability. Mike Smith would blame everyone but himself

I really hope he regains his form this season, dude was great all of last year and in Round 1 of the playoffs. I truly am rooting for it.

I feel bad for him. He’s got a lot of pressure on him to be as good as he was last year. We’re very quick to turn on him, myself included. Would love to see him get to that elite level again but it just might not happen.

I am glad he is taking some accountability but that being said he isn’t the only one who needs to take a look in the mirror here. Our offence hasn’t been consistent at all… not only Hubey or Kadri but right down the line. Our defence has played well but really when Tanev is in the line up… this team needs to do some soul searching collectively…
Sutter demotes the guys on the top lines who aren’t playing up to their potential. Do the same with Markstrom. Vladar’s been solid, give him the start for the next few and see if Marky earns it back

He still only let in 2 goals, and that should be enough to win. Vladar let’s in 2 on Monday even though 1 was a stinker he still gets praised. This loss was NOT on Marky. The team needs to give a bit of run support. Allen was good and got really lucky on some shots imo. We win that game 9/10. We win and people would be happy with Marky. Nhl games are a big roulette table sometimes

Play Vladar for awhile. Let Marky reset. He’ll get there, he has the skills – but no confidence right now. Maybe it’s just too much pressure, I don’t know, but something has to give. With NHL average goaltending, Calgary is in a waaaayyyyy better position than we currently are.

I used to always wonder about Markstrom’s mental game.
He was a fairly high draft pick, and an AHL all-star, but took several years to translate that forward to the NHL.
Just when he was looking like a bust in Vancouver, and poor return for Luongo, he broke out and seemingly became one of the best, most consistent goalies in the NHL.
Will be interesting to see as the season goes on – I think he’ll turn it around. Don’t recall him ever having this brutal of a stretch while in Vancouver though.
I can’t wrap my head around as to why Vladar wasn’t in. So frustrating.

Sutter needs to give the net to Vladar. There is no real downside to playing Vladar as the starter until Marky gets his composure back. Both have shown within the last year that both are terrific goalies, and we are going to need both of them if we are going to stay competitive this year.
I feel this. I’ve spent the last month going through my own slump in the pipes, playing well below what I know I’m capable of, and costing the guys in front of me games that they deserved to win. And that’s just rec hockey. Can’t imagine the pressure he’s putting on himself.
He’ll find his way back to form, just a question of when.
I think the issue is that he had a phenomenal season last year and then a bad start this year and he feels like he needs to prove himself by making these flashy plays when all he really needs is to play really conservative for a game or two, maybe get a shutout and start to rebuild some confidence.
