Marner is one the most clever hockey players you'll see, excellent body control, balance, very smart rink awareness.
He is redeeming for the penalty for flipping the puck over the glass that fucked that game 7

Marner went from being my least favourite leaf to becoming my favourite. What a redemption arc
I get that McDavid is a great player, but there are guys out there who are scoring and getting a lot of assists. If I could score fifty a year, or not score but get 100 assists a year, I would want the helpers. It means that I have contributed to one-hundred goals, and goals equate to wins.
Marner since last January is only about six points or so off of McDavid, and many of those points are assists, meaning that he has tallied goals and wins for his team. Toronto has better depth with regards to scoring and that should take the team farther. The Oil are far too dependent on two guys.
I think that for pure hockey sense, and vision, Marner is probably the best player in the league. He can skate, shoot, and pass, and he is a two-way player. He isn't as dynamic and showcase highlight reel as McDavid, but he makes players around him better and is pretty much neck and neck with Connor. The day I see McDavid hustle back and block shots, is the day I may think about naming him the best.

Great to see him get a moment after watching his friends get all the glory in Tavares and Matthews netting 47 and 60 respectively when playing alongside Mitch.
He's a part of any significant accomplishment this team's players can accomplish so its good to see him be the one chasing a record himself. Also, impressive record, old ass franchise its not insignificant to have a shot at doing something no Leaf has done in over a century of the Leafs existence

Marner is awesome. Every year we get to watch individuals on the Leafs and even ex-Leafs do some amazing things and break records. Just sucks that we also break bad records and get nowhere in the playoffs. Still tho… Go Leafs go.
