I see a lot of people on here over the years debating jersey redesigns. One of the biggest reasons against I see is people claiming we change jerseys too much and we need an established identity. Aside from the original 6 teams, it seems we’re right near the league average of a major redesign every 10-15 years. I personally like the current jerseys but wouldn’t hate a redesign if it makes sense and looks good. I don’t really care one way or the other. Just an interesting observation
we’ve done a full colour palette change 3 times over our history, which is more than any other team.
I think that redesign needs to be defined. The Canucks have had 3 complete logo and colour scheme changes (4 if you count the V neck sweaters). That’s different than changing font or style slightly.
The Leafs have apparently had 7 redesigns, but virtually all of them are immediately recognizable as the Leafs. They have a specific long term sweater identity.
I never realized the short lived vertical jersey designs all happened in 07. Whacky year
