We need a Rangers type expedited rebuild where we go out and sign a big time forward UFA i.e. Filip Forsberg, and trade away some of our younger busts i.e. Zacha and bring in some good bottom 6 veterans for the LR. I know Forsberg will never sign here but one can dream.
Devils are the most unlucky team in the league top 3 at least. Every goalie we have keeps getting hurt. Wood out for the year, Hughes out for a long time, Hamilton out for a long time. Good chunk of their losses they've outplayed their opponents.
Need a new philosophy behind the bench. Get rid of Ruff Recchi and Nas. I’m a fan of Dineen but I think this team needs a coach the likes of Tortorella to fix this mess. Our defensive strategy obviously isn’t working and our players are turning the puck over at a crazy rate and a coach like Tortorella could fix that. Also need to acquire some proven Goal scoring… Way too many playmakers on this team
We need some size and a #1 goalie. Let blackwood fight for the number 1 spot If he can.
I am at the point where I want to cancel my cable provider which I added solely to watch Devils hockey. I think this team is at a crossroads where it needs to be blown up with an M80, not Dynamite. Trade away any combination of Mango, Zacha, Kuokkanen, Severson, PK, Boqvist, and if the return is decent Ty Smith and go get intermediate and veteran wingers and blue chip defensemen who can clear a net. We obviosuly need a 1B goalie, not a backup because Blackwood is consistently injured, whether by bad luck or not. He's becoming Corey Schneider 2.0. The let this team grow and mature approach is failing. This team has no identity other than potential. Lindy is not the coach this team needs so a new HC should be priority #1. If Fitz goes gang busters (barring he's not fired) in the offseason making moves they could improve greatly.
I agree with your assessment here. I think bringing in two proved wingers would be a huge improvement. New coaching staff is needed. I think losing severson and subban would likely be fine with some of our younger talent coming up. Just have the coach have a safe defensive system.
Goaltending has stumped me. I think they need to move for someone that can hold down the fort. Someone consistent. Blackwood is probably more a backup for now in my opinion. Bernier may be toast.
The team has checked out, time for a new coach. Need a solid consistent goalie which Blackwood has not been. Adding some veteran leadership preferably a player that has won a cup, this is a young team and they have looked pretty lost a good part of this season.

I stopped watching games after the first Toronto game . Glad I did. Not gonna watch till something is done to fix this team. Players aren't even trying .
Coaching staff blows blowup dolls, the Devils need to move on from the cancerous players and bring in new blood. But gotta build around Hischier-Hughes-Mercer-Sharangovich-Bahl etc.
Gotta stop hiring coaches with too defensive and conservative styles of coaching.
I mean why haven't they traded for a decent goalie? Should've been done months ago as soon as Bernier went down, we have a ton of prospects. This franchise is incompetent from the top down

Awesome video. I totally agree. I feel even though this season seems to be one of the worst in the last decade so far. We’ve had lots of injuries this year, however we need to move on from guys who are incredibly inconsistent and just liabilities. Possibly trade out Zacha, Johnsonn, Tatar, Subban, Severson. I would love to see us go big for a guy like Brock boeser in a trade. Sign a big time player like hertl and that would make our top 6 lethal. I’m regards for defense. Ty smith needs time down in the AHL and replacements for Subban and Severson could include Bahl/Ohotiouk and then maybe sign a shut down defenseman that’s in the UFA market. Goaltending all I know is that blackwood needs to be in a backup role and earn his way back up the rankings and Bernier is probably done for the rest of his career with the injury he has. Would love to see us go out and maybe get mrazek or even vejmelka from arizona. Would love to see these lines next season in an ideal devils world

This team STINKS.
Let's face facts. Fitzgerald blew it.
This team 2 years in a row fails to have a capable NHL quality goaltending corp. This team has the worst goaltending in the entire league bar none. Combine that with a defense that totally stinks.
Sure cap friendly NJ overpaid for goof Hamilton who while being a potent offensive threat is a defensive turnover machine. Aside from Hamilton there is no real number 1st line defenseman.
No grit, no goaltending,
& no cojones .

Look Jersey has some issues , but they are much better then they are playing , you have some amazing talent on that team , don’t forget the leafs were last place 6 years ago and they still have allot of issues. PK needs to go, he is still a serviceable player but his best years are far gone , I wouldn’t bet on Kadri … he is going to go to Montreal. Write this year off and look forward to your exciting up and coming talent.
This season dude … just one to take out the wind from our hopeful sails…. Ruff has to go big time . It’s pretty apparent who needs to stay offensively and defensively. Other than that , Blackwood and Bernier are too injury prone . I think you gotta make offers to one of Forsberg or Johnny G.
I think as soon as NJ started getting hit with the injuries and bad luck again, the decision was made to focus on letting the youth develop by just forging onwards with the season and hoping that they learn along the way. But as I've said numerous times, without veterans with experience playing for teams that have regular season and playoff success, there's a limit to how much these kids are going to learn simply by following coaching directions. I think Ruff would be in better shape if he had the help of players on the ice who would have more direct influence on the kids. They 100% need to deal with the goaltending issue by getting another 1B goalie and then investing in rabbits' feet and four leaf clovers in hopes that another disaster doesn't befall that guy, too. Fitzgerald needs to use cap space and assets to go after strong free agents and make some trades to bring in better defense and firepower. PK is probably getting moved. Severson could be, too, and could bring in a decent return. Boqvist, Sharangovich, and others can certainly be traded in a package deal for a much needed young vet, too. Definitely a lot of work to be done, but if Fitz doesn't get on the stick and make things happen asap, we're going to be watching another dismal season next year, too.
The Devils Desperately Need a few things
1) A real Defensive System; IE new coaches
2) A legit #1 Elite Scorer. And NO Tatars or Johnssons.
3) Some heavy Hitters on Defense and Offense as we ARE WAY TOO EASY to play against in Font of our Net and the opposing net.
4) WE need to do this thru Free Agency, NOT Trading more assets
At this point, my hope is dwindling. I'm numb. I stopped watching the games after we first started to tank. I really thought that this year was going to be our next big step, but now, it's just an endless cycle for us. I've been a hockey fan since the Sochi 2014 Olympics got me into the sport. I've been a fan of this team for 8 years, and I have still yet to have a taste of victory. That 2018 Wild Card fluke was like winning the Stanley Cup for me. I'm just so tired of losing man.
I really hope we snag Brad Lambert in the draft. Lambert-Hughes-Holtz would be one of the best lines in hockey in their prime. Lambert, the power forward. Holtz, the pure goal scorer. And Hughes, the playmaker.
Thanks for talking some of us off the ledge, LoL. This season may be for the best long-term, depending on what happens with the draft and off-season moves as you mentioned. I have confidence in Fitz even though we all expected more from this season. We can still root for Utica this year. They already did something special with the season opening winning streak record and will definitely be in the AHL playoffs.
The downfall for the Devils is on ownership of Harris and Blitzer horrible owners they don't care about winning at all and the GM Fitzgerald it's on management and the coaching of Lindy Ruff and the rest of the coaching staff has all got to go but won't do a damn thing at all I know the Devils is the youngest team in the NHL and all but it's kinda annoying for them to be in the draft every season and this rebuild will never end for the Devils.

We have just a few problems : offense that doesn’t score , defense that doesn’t defend , goalkeepers that don’t keep goal , coaches that don’t coach , general manager that doesn’t manage , owners that don’t care . Other than that , we are young and promising team .

Obviously, this year has not gone well, and this is disappointing. But it's coming, guys. If we have a little more patience, things will fall into place. I believe in Fitz. I do think it's time for a new coaching staff. I would keep Nasreddine, but that's it. I thank the current coaching staff. But it's time for a new voice, a new message, I believe. Keep the faith, boys, it's coming.
It's kind of funny how a lot of folks didnt think much of Miles Wood until he wasnt here. Miles Wood is a KEY to this team.

Talent is there, but coaching system needs to be completely changed. Also they need to lower ticket prices for the middle section of prudential centre. It would help with the lack of attendance and that would maybe help make home ice hard to play in cause right now it is not…
I Respectfully Disagree. I think that Lindy Ruff should stay. The Main Thing is Goaltending. Both Bernier And Blackwood, their Starters have been Riddled With Injuries. It's time to Move On from one or both. The other problem is Guys Like Tatar and others. Tatar is A Decent Player, but, unlike Vesey, he's Not Been A Good Good Fit, in Scoring Until The Kids (Hughes and others) Start To Take Over. The Will Butcher Move Could Have Been Delayed One More Year. Therefore, Lindy Ruff is not at all the reason that The NJDs aren't doing as well as they should be.
Only correction is Paul Maurice never won a Stanley Cup. He made the finals with Carolina in 2002, but lost to Detroit. Carolina won it with Laviolette in 06. Regardless, Maurice would be a great candidate for the job.
