We want him to develop, we want him to produce, but a fist-full of concussions isn’t a way to start a career. It’s a different style game on a different size ice.
Yes he’s new, yes he’s getting used to to this flow. Make sure he’s aware of his surroundings so he can make the plays we know he can make without getting rocked on the other end!
He’s not the biggest guy in his league anymore, time to start playing like he’s expecting a hit.
Good on this coaching staff to give tons of one-on-one coaching to these players! Development is the title of this season.
GOOD !!! It’s so fucking important. It’s not something you can delay. You need to learn fast. It’s his health that is in play.
This being said, i agree with Guy Boucher, what concerns me at the moment (and it’s important to say it,s not time to panic at all ) is that Slaf has not really improved since the start of the season and does not seem to learn easily from his mistakes.
If he can’t start to learn the game he will never be an impact player in this league. Elite players like Guhle, they make mistakes but they make sure to avoid making the same one after that. That is what makes them great.
So like I said, it’s very early and it’s no time to overreact but I’m looking forward to see Slaf improve the different areas of his game instead of stagnating and showing flashes of brilliance here and there. Consistency and your play without the puck are very important in the NHL. He is not there yet and it’s ok.

Just love the new approach to development. So refreshing to see them actively addressing personal skill issues instead of just benching players in hopes it motivates them to figure it out.
