Our projected cap space at the TDL has gone up $5 million dollars since the start of the season, largely in part due to the unpopular Reaves trade. For those that still hate it, it was absolutely necessary. Not only can we afford Patty Kane at 50% retention (at the start of the season it was forecasted that we would need a 3rd party to retain some as well), but we also have enough space to acquire another quality player at $4 million or less, or even an $8 million quality player at 50% retention.
No doubt that Drury is going to use up our cap space at the TDL, and it won’t be for Kane at 10% retention. And there’s also no doubt that Kane will be a Ranger, any talk otherwise is just to ramp speculation, I’ve never seen a more obvious fit for both sides. Like it or not, Kane is basically confirmed as a Ranger at the TDL.
For purely hypotheticals, who else would you like to see NYR acquire?

We don’t need Kane but pretending like he wouldn’t be a top 3 ranger is asinine.
I think I’d personally prefer vlad tarasenko or Timo Meier another top 9 winger and a top 4 dman. I think they will cost considerably less then Kane and are both excellent at 5v5. I have no interest in trading both 1sts. We need to add some center and d depth in the draft.
Im a big proponent of acquiring two top 6 RW’s to run a top 9 with the kid line again like we did last year. they have only grown more and will be more dominant.

Feel like this is our best shot at a cup. I love laf and kakko on the 1st line right now but for the playoffs we need to roll 3 or 4 lines like the avs, or like we did during hte playoffs last year
