Jagr’s plus minus is completely ridiculous!
It’s misleading to call this a loaded draft when all the Russian/Czech/Slovak “draftees” are actually players defecting from the USSR.
The draft class is mostly born in 1972 but most of the Eastern Europeans you may notice are born earlier, eg Bondra ‘68, Zubov ‘70, Nedved ‘71
1990 coincides with the impending collapse of the Soviet Union (1992) and their weakening grasp on their people.
It isn’t a fair comparison because of the geopolitical factors at play.
Imagine picking being the islanders 6th and seeing everyone from 1 to 8 around you playing 900 or more games and you chose someone who played 2 games…
