I ride for Jiri Slegr all day. Poor man’s defensive Jagr for sure.

Crazy how many points Jagr could have had if he hadn’t gone to the KHL. Also how the hell is he still able to play still
Guy looks jacked still. Long live the mullet.

Sick Caps selection of Bondra w 156th pick!

Iron curtain coming down made some late round draft picks pay big time. Doesn’t really happen like that much anymore.

Dawn of an era right there. You gotta understand this was right after The Berlin Wall fell.

I’m not sure I’d even put this top 5.

    2015, 2005, 1988, 1984, 1981, 1979 just to name a few

Jagr’s plus minus is completely ridiculous!

It’s misleading to call this a loaded draft when all the Russian/Czech/Slovak “draftees” are actually players defecting from the USSR.

The draft class is mostly born in 1972 but most of the Eastern Europeans you may notice are born earlier, eg Bondra ‘68, Zubov ‘70, Nedved ‘71

1990 coincides with the impending collapse of the Soviet Union (1992) and their weakening grasp on their people.

It isn’t a fair comparison because of the geopolitical factors at play.

Imagine picking being the islanders 6th and seeing everyone from 1 to 8 around you playing 900 or more games and you chose someone who played 2 games…
